I once attended a small plane crash scene. 8 people died if I recall, but that was not the point. A woman was there spectating and she covered her eyes with her hands and said "I can't look. Lets go." But she remained and kept looking at the burn and blood through her fingers.

Something like that happens to me when I see certain posts and say "I'm not going to read this.". Gawd!

Hey Rabbit. Glad this solved your problem. Seems this issue is more of an issue that we thought even though most of us didn't know it was there. Does that make sense?

It's really quite easy--just add the username of anyone whom you don't care to read their drivel on the ignore list available in your profile. Never have to see it ever again...totally blocked with no effort.

Thanks. I am aware of that feature. Don't use it though. But that might change.

You and me both Randy. It's getting ridiculous, almost to the point where I will have to use the Ignore function. Of course if people wouldn't poke the monkey through the bars he might get bored and cease his ramblings.

Poke or spank. Both will cause some sort of arousal. Just one is more useful than the other.

I did it last night and all mine were free to move, but I lubed them up a tad and they move a bit freer, and I'll post a report if they made the bike brake smoother.

Video recommended NOT lubricating them, centrifugal force will force lube out and across disks. Clean again with brake cleaner, I was temped to do same, but realized how much force there will be at high speeds, plus the high temps will make lub runnier.

I wondered if a very slight dab of graphite might be useful, but then why question the advise of this guy who I am positive, is far more qualified than myself. Besides, just cleaning them remedied the problem so why gamble?

I thought about that, but used a dab of synthetic bicycle chain lube. Shouldn't be enough to cause an issue but I'll be keeping a close eye on it. I just don't think the bobbins on the Honda are going to be as loose as the ones in that video. I'll see how the braking feels.

Better to stay silent and be thought a fool, than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt.

I haven't been out yet since I did mine. I noticed wear points, looser part of the turn, then tighter in the other part. I guess they should have been sooner.

Quite possibly, since none of us seem to have done this before, there could be slight harder build up, or maybe slight elongation of the holes. I spun mine a lot longer that the guy on the film, using a cordles drill on the bolt. I did notice that when I did this, black crap, that I assumed was hard caked brake dust, eventually worked its way out. More spray and more drill a few times. The bobbins did seem to begin to turn more smoothly in their sockets. So maybe the next time I do this, it will be even better yet.

I thought about making a tool to put in a drill to do this, maybe your right and I didn't get all the crap out.

    Got an idea, more later.

I have a 1/4" drive drill attachment that works well with the right size socket. I also used a washer and nylon lock nut on the bolt.

Randy, great post! 22k miles on my '06 and I've never done this maintenance. And to think all the time I've spent doing fluid changes, Ducati valve adjustments, timing belts, etc on my bikes over the years. Simple. I'll be doing mine tonight, thanks!
