Left work this afternoon on the VFR, went back for my go bag with the bike was running fine, not hint of a problem. Get back to the bike, the starter cranks well but she will not start. I switched off and back on and noticed no hum from the fuel pump. Every fuse in the bike is good so I'm looking for The Wisdom of the Wise Ones, in the hopes of avoiding the troubleshooting WAG and getting right to the problem...

pay close attention to your frontend, more specifically, the lefthand side of the frontend. your fuel pump relay could have crapped out after cooling down from that last ride you took. it acts like the symptoms you're talking about and won't bust a fuse stranding you.

you might be able to get away with pulling your starter relay, shoving it into the bad fuel pump relay's place, and bump starting it from a jog to get her home. but unless the fuel pump itself is shorted or broken, that's probably your bitch right there. had one get me back in san antonio. was my fault tho.

The blue connector on the left side was my Ex-wife here. Apparently despite my efforts to keep crap out, the contacts still funked up. Worked the connector a few times and Viola, my baby is ALIVE!

Nope, the big 16-or-so contact blue connector on the left side of the bike that connects to the front sub-harness. I TSed the fuel pump, Fuel Cut Off Relay, Bank Sensor, all good. I then unplugged the connector, saw no damage and all the rear side contacts reading in specs. I then plugged the connector back up, swapped the FCOR with one of the headlight relays, switched on and the pump pressurized, the bike runs! I think the connector's contacts funked up (not the first time it's happened either with that bike, thanks Honda) so I cleaned up the connector, unplugged and plugged it back several times to be sure the funk was wore off the contacts and buttoned the thing up.IF there is any more issued with the connector I'm gonna fix the problem with individual bullet-style ones.

    Or 40S&W...

Having a similar problem with an '05 VFR. I was filling up just before getting home and went to start it. Fired up and then quit. I pulled the connector off of the main relay a few times, wiggled the 30A fuse around and she finally started. Got her home okay and the same thing happened the next time I was going for a ride. This time I wasn't so successful with playing with the main relay so started to try to figure out what is wrong. The fuel cut off relay, engine stop relay and tip sensor all test ok but there is no power getting to the fuel pump. Engine turns over great, just no gas. I tried switching in the engine stop relay for the fuel cut off relay with no success. Any suggestions for a new guy?
