Making my list. Checking it twice. Read to the end three times and figuring it will suffice.

You are on. Welcome to Folly World. That "looks" bad but are those scratches really that deep? Looks like maybe a paint job on just the one side bag would put you back into pristine shape. Any decent paint shop should have paint chips to perfectly match that blue. He there is even reference material out there they use where the can use the actual paint. I know they did on mine.

Yeah, its pretty much just the bag. Some minor scratches by the directional. Busted bar end on the right bar. Nothing bent.

Zero damage on my last drop-I made my bike damage proof. folding levers, sliders, bar sliders, rear steel rack bars covers whole back end. This bike can fall at least at 15mph with minor damage.

Once, really slowly while running the canyons in Malibu, I came up to a curve and I had it in the wrong gear, so I ended up stopping. I went to put my foot down and the road dipped down to drain water, but there was nowhere to put my foot, so it slowly fell. I ended up with only a broken right hand mirror. Aug 8th, 2013, my radiator cap went bad, it overflowed onto the rear tire and i went down at about 25 mph and scratched up the left side. Huge hassle getting it painted properly and to get the insurance company to pay the proper amount. Fast forward about a year and three days after getting back from my trip to Tail of the Dragon, I put the bike on the side stand and the bike fell on it's left side busting the mirror and putting some small scratches on the fairing.

    Whatcha gonna do?

Ok, drop one. I was riding with some friends up in Malibu, still getting used to the bike, as I came off of a Triumph Sprint RS with the 955i triple. That bike had no VTEC and it had 20+ ft lbs more torque, so trying to get used to the lower torque higher weight of the VFR was a challenge, as I was dealing with the freaking light switch off idle throttle that plagues these bikes. Because of all this, I was upshifting, downshifting a lot and my left arm got pumped up to the point that I couldn't pull in the clutch when I needed to for an uphill right hand steeply cambered 80 degree turn up in the Malibu mountains. I thought I was in second, went to shift to first, but my arm stopped working. I stopped and when I went to put my foot down, I realized the road was about a foot lower on the right side, to allow water to run off. Down she went. Luckily, I was able to slow the descent and only ended up with a broken RH mirror and a few tiny little scratches.

Drop two. I was trying to figure out why my coolant was continuing to bubble over after a coolant change. I thought I was dealing with bubbles in the system, but it turned out to be a bad radiator cap. At the time of the accident, I thought I had gotten it under control, as I rode it to Ventura to take my life insurance license test. It was a cool morning and that conspired against me as it kept the temps down. After passing my test, I rode home and while sitting at an intersection, 1/4 mile from my apartment, my bike warmed up. This caused coolant to overflow and it dripped on my back tire, unbeknownst to me. About halfway through my left hand turn to the road I live on and WHAM! Like the hand of God himself flicked my back tire out from underneath me. I mean it was to the fullest extent of the word, instantaneous! Bike smacked down on the left side and slid, as did I but the leather gear and armor cushioned me and kept me scratch free. Bike, not so much. Scratched up fairings, broken mirror, bar end weight, shifter and some other small stuff. Insurance paid.

Third drop, this one hurt. Not my body, but my heart. I had just completed a 5000 mile journey from Moorpark, Ca to Nashville Tn. Visited my brother, rode Tail of the Dragon, Cherohala Skyway, all over Nashville, etc. Rode TOD HARD and everything was fine. Rode there in four days, averaging 500 miles a day. Rode at least 1500 miles while there over three weeks and then rode home. Five days back as I had to stop in Albuquerque for a new back tire. Rode in rain and really high temps, again, just fine. Even had some fool ass son of a bitch old man nearly hit me at 70+ miles an hour while I was on the side of the highway in Arkansas, when I pulled over to put my phone and stuff in a waterproof container, as it was starting to rain. Survived that. Three days after I am home, I pull my bike out of the carport to wash it and put the kickstand down, lean the bike on to it and take exactly three steps away from the bike when I hear it hit the ground. My heart instantly sunk to below Australia and I turned around to see my pride and joy laying on the ground, scratched and hurt, Busted my mirror again!!! DAMN IT!!! The paint from the coolant accident wasn't even a year old and now this. The part I am very very grateful for is that it happened at my home and not on the road. The upper fairing support got bent because when the bike fell, the mirror hit the curb, transferring a lot of force to the framework there. Small scratches on the fairing, which are fixable. I took the front fairing off and used a long thick screwdriver to bend it back up and even with the other side. The impact transferred into the gauge cluster breaking the grommet tabs that hold it in place, but once I put it all back together, you can't even tell.

Now you know my shame. Add me to the list of folks who cried over an inanimate object...

First off - its not Mine! But tip overs are not the only way to wreck your bike.

This morning my VFR was in at Honda in for its third service this year. Went back to collect the bike later and just as I was sat on my bike getting ready to head home, this sad sight rolled in. Sort of makes the case for adding decent frame sliders/ABS.

    IMG_9043.jpg

The whole right side is toast - pegs, brake lever, and mirror gone, fairing panels battered, headlight, indicator and bar end trashed. Sadly with Honda parts prices and low used market prices for early vtec bikes that one will probably be written off.

I think, I actually need to do more than just Frame sliders-I need to lower the bike about 2 inches, so I get my feet more on the ground,. The vfr is 33inches-my leg is 30 inches. A 2 ich drop would really help me prevent a drop in the first place, I add saddlebags and for get it-becomes a lop sided beast with me on my tippy toes.

Don't be a pussy, ride it the way it is. My legs are only 28" and I don't have frame sliders.

Have you tried running 4psi in rear tire and 3psi in your front tire? Sorry those thigh high patent leather high heel boot didn't help bikewise. I bet those shemales really dig them when you dudes are playing dress up.

Dammit I hate to post here again...but the inevitable has happened again she got horizontal.

This time it was parked in the shop with a gravel floor, well it has been raining lately and what is said my wife and I heard a crash a few nights + ago. I even got up and checked out the backyard and the house nothing disturbed...well guess what must have been the VFR

Only damage luckily was the left mirror, which I have replacements sitting behind me.

Damn these VFR's, never had a bike go horizontal so many times in my biking career...
