That is pretty sweet. If it was durable and reliable, I would love to have one someday. It looks pretty cool too! Looks to be priced around $1400 bucks, however, you pay to play to have the latest and greatest, whether it be TVs, cell phones, PCs, etc...

    FAQ:

    HOW TO BUY
+ WHERE CAN I BUY A SKULLY HELMET?

SKULLY AR-1 can be purchased on our website.

    + WHY AM I PRE-ORDERING THROUGH INDIEGOGO?

Pre-ordering through Indiegogo guarantees your helmet ships in 2015.

+ WHY DID SKULLY CHOOSE TO CROWDFUND?

Production of SKULLY AR-1 has already begun, and we are set to deliver in May 2015. With such limited quantities being produced, pre-ordering through Indiegogo is the only way that riders can guarantee we will have your size and color for the upcoming 2015 riding season. The SKULLY AR-1 will not be sold in stores.

    + I LIVE OUTSIDE OF THE UNITED STATES, CAN I PRE-ORDER A SKULLY AR-1?

Yes. The SKULLY AR-1 will ship worldwide as a DOT/ECE approved helmet. Australia/New Zealand orders will be tested AS1698:2006 prior to shipping.

    SAFETY
+ IS THE SKULLY AR-1 CERTIFIED FOR SAFETY?

The SKULLY AR-1 is DOT/ECE certified and is currently pending AS/NZS 1698:2006 certification.

+ ARE AUGMENTED REALITY HELMETS SAFE?

Research has long since shown that Heads Up Display (HUD), when properly implemented, can vastly improve the safety and situational awareness of drivers. SKULLY's patented HUD solution allows you to keep your focus on the road ahead while maximizing 360 degree situational awareness. This means you can see more and react quicker, potentially avoiding danger before an accident occurs.

+ HAS THIS BEEN TESTED ON THE ROAD?

Yes, the SKULLY AR-1 has undergone extensive road testing, and will continue to be tested to ensure the highest quality, functionality, and safety.

+ WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET INTO AN ACCIDENT WITH MY SKULLY AR-1?

If you are involved in an accident with your SKULLY AR-1 your insurance carrier may cover you for the cost of your AR-1. Reference your insurance policy to see if you are covered for Custom Parts and Equipment (CPE) coverage. For a definition of CPE coverage, please visit here.

    HELMET
+ DOES THE SKULLY AR-1 COME IN MY SIZE?

The SKULLY AR-1 is an intermediate oval head form and comes in sizes between Small and XXL. The fit shape is similar to a Shoei RF-1200 (see sizing chart below). The fit is snug. As part of our commitment to customer satisfaction, if you find the fit is a bit too large or small, we will send you one additional premium padding set free of charge to get the perfect fit.

    SIZING CHART (approx.):

+ HOW MANY SHELL SIZES ARE USED?

SKULLY AR-1 comes in one shell size, allowing for a more modular fit with our laser cut foam padding. This ensures that no matter what head shape you are, there is a SKULLY for you.

+ HOW MUCH DOES THE HELMET WEIGH?

A SKULLY AR-1 in size XXL weighs 1792 grams (3.95 lbs), or about the same as a modular helmet.

    + IS IT WATERPROOF?

The SKULLY AR-1 is highly weather resistant. Electronics are sealed and protected with special coatings and injection molded casings which keep the elements out.

+ IS THE INNER LINING FULLY REMOVABLE AND WASHABLE?

All of our Outlast lining is fully removable and washable.

+ WHAT IS SKULLY AR-1 MADE OF?

SKULLY AR-1 is constructed of the highest grade polycarbonate shell and multi-density EPS. Paired with our laser cut comfort padding, this combination of materials enables AR-1 to exceed both DOT and ECE specifications and maximize serviceability.

    SOFTWARE
+ WILL SKULLY FEATURE MORE APPLICATIONS THAN GPS, MUSIC, AND A REAR VIEW CAMERA FEED?

Yes, we will continue to release new features for AR-1 after your AR-1 ships. These enhancements will be added on an ongoing basis and will be provided via software updates. We will also provide an SDK that allows the development of smartphone apps that are compatible with the SKULLY app to enhance the experience. Developers will be able to write applications for AR-1 and the SKULLY app. Applications that display information in the HUD will be subject to SKULLY approval to maintain the safety of the system.

+ DOES THE SKULLY AR-1 SUPPORT HELMET TO HELMET COMMUNICATION?

The SKULLY AR-1 does support helmet to helmet communications.

    GPS
+ WHICH REGIONS DOES THE GPS WORK IN (OUTSIDE N. AMERICA/EUROPE)

Our GPS system is based on crowd-sourced maps and navigation from almost 200 countries worldwide. The GPS system will be able to navigate using stored maps even when outside cellular coverage. Our crowd-sourced maps are often more detailed and more up to date than commercially available maps.

    + WHAT'S YOUR REFERRAL PROGRAM?

If you successfully refer 5 friends to pre-order a SKULLY AR-1 using your referral link, then we will refund the price of your pre-order! More details (including a how-to with pictures) is here.

+ WILL GPS NAVIGATION WORK WHEN I DON'T HAVE CELLULAR SERVICE?

Yes. SKULLY will feature on-board map storage as well as integrated bluetooth-enabled GPS map updates with traffic.

+ DO THE GPS MAPS STAY ON THE DISPLAY ALL THE TIME?

Yes. There are two versions of the map display that the rider can toggle. One is a highly simplified interface which shows at the base of the rearview camera display, and the other version has a more detailed interface for more complicated driving directions. These two settings mean you can optimize the display as your needs change.

    HEADS-UP DISPLAY (HUD)
+ WHAT APPEARS ON THE HEADS-UP DISPLAY (HUD)?

The display shows a rear view camera feed with a near 180 degree viewing angle. This means it not only sees what is behind you, but also what is in your left and right blind spots. The display also optionally shows turn by turn directions. These turn by turn icons are present only when needed, then automatically disappear when not in use. It also optionally, if supported by the motorcycle, may display vehicle telemetry such as speed, gear, tachometer, etc.

+ WILL THE HUD OBSTRUCT MY VISION WHILE RIDING?

No. The display is transparent, and we have positioned it outside the rider's primary field of view where it appears to float in the distance. It appears to be about the size of the rider’s outstretched hand. This means you can see the road ahead without any obstruction from the display. This display system simplifies the riding experience because you no longer need to take your eyes off the road to see what is around you or to find your route. With our optical technology, the display is always in focus no matter where you look, allowing instant comprehension of the information.

    + WHAT IS INFINITE FOCUS?

The AR-1's advanced optical system presents an image that is focused to your eye, rather than your eye needing to focus on it. The display allows you to see everything behind and to the sides of you, plus vehicle telemetry and GPS navigation, as fast as your eye can move. This allows you to see the display as an extension of your peripheral vision, and with a quick glance of your eye, you see everything in the display instantly.

+ DOES IT WORK WITH GLASSES?

Yes. Both near and far sighted users can use the system with their current corrective lenses. Eyeglasses do not affect the heads-up display (HUD) at all because it is focused at an infinite apparent distance, meaning your eye’s internal lens does not have to adjust to the display to see it clearly. The HUD will be clearly visible without your reading glasses. We recommend you use whatever corrective lenses you use while driving a car when using AR-1.

+ CAN THE HEADS-UP DISPLAY BE POSITIONED ON OPPOSITE SIDE?

No, the AR-1 display is integrated in the right side of the helmet to ensure that it remains firmly attached. It is not a "clip-on", and cannot be removed.

+ WHAT DOES THE REAR VIEW CAMERA SEE/DO?

The rear view camera has a near 180 degree viewing angle. This means it shows not only a rear view, but also eliminates blind spots on the left and right of the rider. SKULLY's camera also takes this visual information and renders it in a way that is easy to see and understand on the display. This allows you to keep an eye on what is happening behind you without turning your head. It also allows you to monitor your blind spots without taking your eyes away from your direction of travel. This provides you with an unprecedented level of situational awareness.

+ IS THE REAR VIEW CAMERA ADJUSTABLE FOR DIFFERENT RIDING POSITIONS?

Yes, you are able to digitally adjust the camera angle using the SKULLY smartphone app for your specific riding position. Also the camera viewing angle is ultra wide, and ultra tall, meaning you should have no problem seeing around you.

    BATTERY
+ HOW LONG DOES THE BATTERY LAST?

The SKULLY AR-1 has two batteries, a visor battery integrated into the modular visor which controls E-Tint and a helmet battery used by the rest of the system. The E-Tint battery has a 20 hour constant use life, and the AR-1 has a 9 hour constant use life. The batteries are separately rechargeable via micro USB. If you will be on a longer ride and require a recharge, you can plug in AR-1 to an external power source and charge while you ride.

+ ARE THE BATTERIES USER EXCHANGEABLE?

The helmet battery is not user replaceable but warranty service will be available if needed. The visor battery is integrated into the visor, and as a visor system, it can be exchanged independently of the helmet battery.

+ HOW DOES THE BATTERY AFFECT TINTING?

The tinting system is independent of the helmet battery, allowing users to operate the tinting visor, even if they fully discharge the battery on AR-1. The E-Tint has a 20+ operational hour battery life.

    WARRANTY
+ DOES THE SKULLY AR-1 COME WITH A WARRANTY?

SKULLY AR-1 comes with a 6 month warranty that covers repair/replacement of components and entire systems. Extended warranties will be made available when AR-1 ships. We have gone to great lengths to provide the best possible model of service and support. No AR-1 owner will be left disappointed.

+ WHAT IS THE WARRANTY FOR INTERNATIONAL BUYERS?

The warranty for international buyers is the same as domestic buyers. We are working to exceed all requirements for warranties in every region in which the SKULLY AR-1 is sold.

Well, if it works as advertised, is reliable, and fits well,.....I would love to have one. Not for everyone, as some folks have enough distraction tendencies as it is...however, I think it is a great idea. I love the rear cam. Just need to wait for customer feedback once it is sold, and wait for the price to drop. Maybe Reggie will buy me one for Christmas after he gets his new BIG money money promotion...I wouldn't want him to get a sore back from carrying all of that extra cash in his wallet...

I was just thinking the price doesn't sound terrible considering what you get. Hell didn't long just buy a shubert or whatever that was getting up there in cost and it doesn't do shit except make his wallet lighter or his credit bill higher...
Maybe Randy will buy one with that Canadian double retirement money.

Hell a shark helmet approaches that price, too I think... Now if we could just get one in pink for jason...

How much is the face shield to replace? Seems I get about three years at most out of mine before they are really worn and scratched up.

Reg. I had to go back to work to suppliment my skimpy pension that has not gone up one fucking scent since I started collecting it in 2003. I sell my body as a sex object in order to raise enough money to come to r3. That and pan handle at street corners. More the latter.

I would stand in line for one of these if I could watch Oprah. I bet these will sell to all sorts of paranoids who think people are watching them from behind. In harleydood territory this may not be so paranoid after all.. One of these and a couple of LI batteries and a built in comm system and it could be worn 24/7. This could replace the hoodie in some hoods.

1500 pesos aint all that bad when some of the fast guys can buy these:

I donated a few bucks on KickStarter to the company when they first announced their product. At $500+ a much better deal, and they are not in the helmet business, you get to keep you favorite lid.

That is pretty interesting, but man, oh man, that sucker is huge! It would bother the heck out of me having that big monstrosity hanging off the front of my helmets. Seems as though it would be in the way, and create more wind turbulence/buffeting. Still interesting though.

Do you invest in ridenuviz, or the Scully?

They lost my business and probably most of the business from our 400+ member MC at work.. They committed to coming to our demo day in Oregon and demo'g the helmets. Keep in mind I work for a VERY large tech company... Think super geeks with lots of disposable income...

2 days before the event Skully leaves a voiceamail with the point of contact and backs out of their commitment. Then won't return phone calls etc...

If I treated a potential customer that way I'd lose my job.

yeah I donated to them, too. I still get the updates. I liked the idea of being able to put on whatever helmet fits your noggin.
