probably an over-used analogy but the bike should sound like a small block chevy. anyway, should be a smooth steady sound - no misses. probably better if you can, to post a sound/video clip

video clip would be snice. Small block chevy sums it up, stock pipe is quiet though.

I did take a vid with my iphone before and after the laser back to stock exhaust swap. If I can figure out how to load a vid I will put them up.

Took the VFR on about a 90km ride today - mostly freeway/country roads sitting on 90-110km/hr.

Bike went very nicely but the RR was fairly warm when I got home - the Pentium 4 fan is working a treat. I just need to check the AC out put of the generator and if that is ok I will consider all fixed.

If problems arise in the future I will buy the vfrness and put a spare RR under the seat.

Congrats on the new 94! I just got one up and running and on the road myself. My voltage seems to be a little low at 12.75 at the battery when running. Ridevfr..... Do your prefer the circuit breaker or Maxifuse? I definately want to upgrade to mosfet.
    Thanks!
PS I will get up a pic and ride report this week!

With all of the bikes and rectifiers I've re-wired, I never really felt one after a ride. I assume the answer is yes but should these be warm to touch?

With my CBR1100 it was 72 C about 2-3 minutes after turning the bike off. So my guess is hot is normal (if not actually a good thing).

Just got new tyres for the red scooter today.
The bike came with Dunlop qualifiers which were 7 years old and half worn - did not inspire confidence while riding.
Put a PR4 on the front and a PR3 on the back (could not get PR4 in correct size).
The bike is transformed, feels much more stable in corners and no more tracking on lines on the road.

Glad to know you like those on your 94. I have Bridgestone Battle Ax on mine. Came with the bike and were in good shape. They have been ok so far.

Took the VFR for the first proper ride into the countryside today.
The handling is incredible, I thought the blackbird handled well but the VFR feels like it can ride the road by itself it is so nimble.
The VFR does not have the brute force in horsepower of a blackbird, but the handling and linear power all the way to redline more than make up for it.
I am sure the Pilot roads help but the bike itself is amazing. As the reviewers said - It is arguably the best all round bike ever made.
This will be a keeper for sure.

    First proper fuel up today;
    17.4 km/L
    5.7 L/100km
    41.2 USmpg
    49.6 imp mpg

Not bad given the amount of time it has spent idling on the drive while testing the electrics and getting a few full rev range runs.
Gives a range to empty on the 21 litre tank of 365km (almost 230 miles). Very useful touring range.

I have just had a chain and sprocket kit delivered, 16:43.
Has anyone tried one of these bikes with a 17 front sprocket and a std 43 rear?
    If so,
Does it drop too much low end power?

I will probably hang onto the high mount exhaust for the moment.
Still haven't uploaded vids - not actually sure how to.

Although I wasn't going to spend any money on this bike (other than tyres, RK chain and sprocket kit, reg/rect, headlight globe adapters, genuine brake pads, Iridium spark plugs, spare passenger seat cover, air filter, oil filter, spare fasteners etc) I was not entirely happy with the condition of the left and right handlebar switches - good but not really as nice as the rest of the bike. With a bit of digging I managed to find a pair of NOS switches to put on at a later date. The right switch has the headlight on/off switch (euro style not Aussie as our bikes went to permanently on headlight in the mid 80's). David Silver Spares in the UK were able to find me the correct part number and get me the switch at a reasonable price. The left switch came through my local Honda dealer at a surprisingly reasonable price.

Good find on the switches. If the originals were looking a bit tired I bet the nos ones will make a big difference. Old looking gauges and switches can ruin the looks of a bike. Cool you got one from honda. I've never owned a bike new enough to buy switches from the dealer.

I usually like all stock on bikes but the high mount pipe looked really good on that bike. Showed the wheel off more huh.

As I pulled into the drive today I realised I had just completed my 1000th km on this fantastic bike.
So about 6000km on the blackbird and 1000km on the VFR - a fairly good year.

Finally found time to take off tail cowl for a photo of my super RR cooler.
In the middle of o whole bunch of little maintenance jobs.
Oil and coolant change, replacing the globes in the meters, new plugs.
