Ok here she is, in all of her neglected dirt covered glory. Has not been ran in three or four years. Fluids still on board. No air in its tires. But, for the price I couldn't pass it up.

    1985 vf1000r 24800 miles. East coast bike until 2003.

Last four on the vin are 0843.

Oh, no keys. Let the fun begin![IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Key #s can be found under ignition switch or behind helmet holder lock. One letter and 2 digits, Honda cycle dealer will cut your keys.

Thanks for the info, I found blank keys, so I'll have them cut at the local dealer.

A man can never have too many projects. The 1000R is such a great looking bike. I will look fantastic when done.

I'm still slowly sorting her out. Still a ways off from firing it up. Lots to do. Carbs, fluids, blah blah

Remember the fairings are fiberglass, easy to fix.

And you can sometimes pick them up from fleabay, or poly26.com carries them.

Exhaust, not unless you stumble on a set somewhere.

If you're not going for a full restore, upgrading the forks to something else is easiest route. Maybe RC51 of 929/954. The comstar wheels are cool, but finicky. Lots of good mentors here to lead you into temptation.

Jaime does a great 929 shock package for the rear.

I love them/hate them. Did my time with one. Fortunately the ergos are all wrong for me personally.

I agree those wheels are sweet, it's a favorite bit for me from that era. Congrats to the OP! Just curious what makes them finicky?

So, I have been working on the bike. Had to remove the engine to get the rear headers off. Reinstalling the engine now. I'll have to repaint the side covers again...
