    Hello,
I bought a 1986 VFR750F yesterday. I had such fond memories of an 1986 VFR700 Interceptor which I regretted selling about twelve years ago and realized I had to have another.
I've been told it was imported into the United Kingdom around 2002. I noticed today on my first real ride, that with the throttle wide open in fifth gear it will only manage about 90mph. It also felt underpowered when overtaking. I am not comparing it directly against another bike as I haven't ridden for a couple of years.

Could my bike be restricted depending on its country of origin. I tried to decode the VIN but the writing on the small white sticker is impossible to make out. In the lower gears, it will rev to about nine thousand rpm.

I greatly appreciate any and all advice, thanks and best wishes, TBS.

only 90 ? sounds like a tune up/sync and compression test are in order.... it should do 90 on two cylinders....

Could you remove the air box and post some pictures of the assembly? I remember reading something aboot how bad the air box would be choked down on restricted bikes in the U.k. .

Thanks everybody for your advice. Obviously I should have stated that the 90 mph was a professional rider on a closed private circuit.

It has been recently serviced and I've bled the brakes, they aren't dragging. What do you mean by a 'well tune'? I'll have a look at the airbox this weekend, in terms of a carb sync and compression test I'll have to book it into a garage as I don't have the tools for it.
