I'm thinking of removing the passenger pegs and grab rails and was wondering, anybody crashed their bike and found these items helped?...i.e. saved damage or decreased the amount of damage? Trying to decide whether retaining the bits of ugliness on the bike that are meant to please passengers that I'm not planning to carry are of any use to me whatsoever.:torn: Thanks.

If planning on crashing or dropping your bike, leave it the way is. If you know a crash or a drop is not gonna happen, take them off. Not if, but when I drop my bike, I want to have more options of where to grip and lift it up.

I don't share your when not if attitude to crashing. I'm more likely to retain the grab rails because of them being useful to hoist the bike up if shit does happen but more so because they make tail bag mounting so easy.

I want the passenger pegs gone because they're fugly and when removed reveal one of the bike's finer aesthetic features: single sided swing arm with no pipes obscuring it.

Dont you use the grab handles to get up on the SS? I do
Never had my passenger pegs on since the wifey wont ride with me so I just cut them off but retained the brackets for my top box.
Think it would be alot easier to lift the bike from a horizontal nap

Of course. (I don't know how I forgot about how indispensable grab rails are for that.)

Looking at your bike, I had the big Givi setup on my Blackbird. Holds 24 tall bottles of beer effortlessly and might be the ugliest thing you could ever do to a motorcycle.

V47 I think is the perfect size for what I need it for, carry my locks and backpack to work, and can leave my helmet and jacket as well.....and of course pick up the brewskys afterwards
