Purchased this past week and soon to be sitting in my garage! Very nice overall shape, very low mileage, but some slight road rash on both sides of the bike - DYI plastic weld and re-paint in the near future.

    Looks very well kept.
I'm off to have a look at an 84 VF1000R today.
I am fairly certain that if the wife knew she would be happy with the idea.

Ah... My old motto (and its always worked well for me...) - 'its easier to beg forgiveness than it is to ask permission'.

I hear you but to paraphrase a great song; "does anyone know where the love of the gods goes when the grumping turns the minutes to hours?" With apologies to Gordon.

Are you still looking for the fork adjuster cap for this?
I think if it is the right hand fork, then it is not the MG5 part - that was for the 84 VF1000R.
The right cap on the 85/86 models comes as part of the whole fork cap/adjuster assembly.

Thanks for the reply back... The Micro fiche stated that MG5 part, but did not show a very good schematic diagram of the top of the fork leg. I gambled and learned the hard way, paid for that part, and when it arrived was disappointed to see if wasn't correct. I got very lucky and purchased a complete right fork leg from Ron (on this site) with all parts in good working order! Here's the interesting thing (..and to the best of my knowledge, having taken it apart) - that adjuster doesn't do anything - it just swivels between 3 positions. Its a reminder to the rider as to what he set the lower adjuster on the bottom of the right fork leg...

Anyone in need of the cap for an early VF1000F or VF700, etc??

There should be a rod connecting the cap to the internal piston in the fork leg. it definitely does something if the rod is there.

The rebound damping gets deleted when Race Tech Cartridge Emulators are installed. Maybe you got lucky and have a set of modified forks?

Thanks for this info.. There's something funky about the setup on my bike. From the manual, there is a pic showing a rod connected to the top of the right fork tube.. Interesting, as mine didn't have the adjusting cap. I'll certainly know more when I take both forks apart to install new fork seals. I was lucky enough to purchase a good condition right fork assembly (with adjuster cap in place), so will see whats up.

The VF1100 Sabres I've had also have that adjuster rod going from the three-position clicky dial down to the valve. Do you think it cross-references? They're both 41mm Showa units, aren't they? It's just a long thin steel tube that's crimped at the bottom to fit the adjuster. I'd suspect a little emulator work there too, good catch if so!

I don't think anyone means you. You have not posted in this thread before.
