I'm proud to say that I just took delivery of my very first Honda bike (although not quite my first bike overall)! It's a 2006 VFR800A that I recently purchased from my brother. I know it has been WELL taken care of, and it has <prepare yourselves> less than 3,000 miles on it.

Although I was born and raised in the Northeast (Pittsburgh, PA), I've only recently moved back after having lived for slightly more than the past decade in Florida. And these 10 degree high days are indeed taking some getting used to once again. :witless:

I already have the Honda factory saddlebags/panniers, Zero Gravity Double Bubble windscreen, mirror extenders (since I'm on the slightly tall side) and Corbin Gunfighter & Lady saddle (all black leather, no welting) ready to be installed this weekend on my new-to-me VFR. Not to mention both a Bully alarm disc lock and Bully grip lock to, hopefully, protect and keep my new bike as mine for a loooong time to come.

Any and all feedback is always welcomed. I'm happy to be a new part of such a great riding community; perhaps I'll get the opportunity to ride with some of you soon!

(I apologize for these poor garage photos, but I was simply too excited to take them even though the bike was delivered ridiculously late at night.)

Mine used to look that pristine. What a find. 3,000 miles. Hell thats less than 500 miles a year on average. I have somewhere around 117,000 or so on mine. That one has many years of life left in her for you to enjoy. If that has the original rubber on it from new, get rid of that shit before you even turn a wheel. They were crap in the first place, and they are far to old now to be even remotely safe.

Welcome to the site. The white are the greatest, the fastest and just bichen all around.

    Thanks!

Yeah, I plan to keep her on the road for at least the next couple of decades.

Great advice on the tires too. I just checked the date stamp on the sidewall and, while they're not the original tires, they were manufactured in mid-2008. Still absolutely worth replacing.

My last PR3'S lasted 7,000 miles untill a rear flat at 70+...still looked brand new...350 miles a week commuting and play time. Have the 4's now with no complaints. Got the 4's because of a great deal, $106 for the front but cant remember what I paid for the rear...think $145.
    Good luck, shop around

A flat at 70+?! Glad to have you still among us, my friend. :eek:range:

My brother, the previous owner, was more than wise enough to upgrade to Michelin PS2's from stock sometime in 2008 for his gorgeous SoCal weather, but I need something a little more competent in the wet stuff too since I split my time between Pittsburgh, PA and Orlando, FL. Not to mention seven year old tires are a bit of a concern to me.

Hey Elton welcome to the board. Sometime we venture into the Poconos for a ride but for the past year the North East section has been quiet. I hope interest spikes again so we can venture into more of the great roads that are in Pennsylvania.

You know, in all the decades I've lived in Pennsylvania, I've never been to the Poconos.

    Terrible. Just terrible. :shame:

To bad you weren't the only north easterner to sell his bike. It's a sad place where someone sells his VFR :frusty: The east section has been almost dead in my area, we used to do about 10 rides a season in Pa but now it's been quite. Maybe you can wake them up!

I see a guy around here with a Gen 7 now and then but have never run into him to chat. I'm always out and about riding. Mostly by myself of course. I usually hit up an ADVRider event once a year. Last year I did Americade with a buddy and Laconia by myself. I was in NJ for the Superbike race last year too.

I see what you did there, Dino. Me, PoconoSteve...probably a few others.

With these last 2 days of warm weather, I've been getting the itch again. But its not in the cards for this year. Piles of home repairs coming up, always throwing $ at the car, and when I get another bike, I have to re-gear. Sold all that stuff too! I'm hoping that by this time next year I'll have a VFR back in the garage. And it'll be yellow again, too.
