So, my aftermarket levers had some slop and the brake lever was sticking when I pulled it, making for rough stops at low speed. I tried putting a synthetic grease on the brake lever perch, but that only lasted a day or two. Basically what was happening is that when I pulled the lever, it was a metal on metal contact and it wasn't giving me a smooth pull.

So, I Googled nylon washers etc and found that Lowes carries two nylon flat washers for $.92 for two. The part is Hillman #881535 5/16 X .140 X 1/32

I was able to install them in the parking lot. It was a little difficult getting it in place, as I installed them on the bottom of the lever perch, so that the lever glides on the washer, not metal. it also eliminated any slop in the lever, that even the stock ones had. Now, my levers are super smooth, no flop or play. Any pressure on the lever is instantly transferred to the master cylinder making it super responsive. I don't know why it wasn't this way to begin with, but, it's so cheap that it's really a cool little fix.

The measurements for the rest of the world is 8mm X 3.556 X 0.79375

Its nice to fix stuff like that, I was not happy with the master cylinder on my ex500, I rebuilt the master with an oh-fish-al kawaski kit, and still had the same stiction. What I ended up doing was gettine an sv650 master cylinder, it worked oot perfectly, no more sticktion. I took a gamble, I know a doode that is rather cheap and he had a bandit 1200 with one warped rotor, what he ended up doing was removing the offending rotor and ran the bike with one disk. Cheers and happy/safe riding

In my pics, the washer looks grey because of the grease that was already there from before. I may or may not clean it off. I probably will tho, just in case it affects the nylon. I actually wish I could find washers that are half this thickness so I can have one on top as well, but this works. The biggest cause of the stiction that I was dealing with was from the bottom where I placed the washer. Totally smooth now. Honestly, all bikes should have these.

    Hi Dino,
The Fastenal near me frowns on small purchases, they actually have a sign to that effect. I guess I'll try them anyway though.
