2002 pre vtec vfr800??

Hi everyone, looking for a bit od advise. I just brought a 2002 pre vtec VFR800 but from reading online it says that these we only made up to 2001. So how can this one be a 2002? Is it as simple as it was made in 2001 but wasn't registered until 2002. Thoughts please.

 

Look on the frame, it will tell you the year it is. The 5th gen non VTEC were produced from 98-01 only.

 

Ive done a vehicle check on the reg and its coming back as a VFR 800-2 first registered in may 2002. I cant check the vin number as its at the garage 2 hrs away and i dont pick it up for 2 weeks. I have only paid a deposit but i wanted to see if any one had any ideas to it being 2002 but still a pre vtec. I will add a picture of it. If someone could tell me if it is defiantly not a vtec that would be great. Also if any one has any further ideas to why 2002 when they stopped making them in 2001.cheers

Not a 2002. That's a 98-01 model. No vtec on her.

 

And if the who owns it thinks it's a 2002..

It's precisely what you've already said. Manufactured in 2001 but not sold until 2002. Same situation with my vtec, the plate says 2003 but the frame says 2002

 

Just like all the new 2010 vfr's for sale. If you buy 1 it's not a 2015.
