I know I'm new on here, but I feel that especially in the mountainous regions (and probably everywhere) we should help each other out by posting how road conditions are on our favorite rides. Tink and I might go hit up the Poudre canyon and stove prairie tomorrow so I'll post afterwards (when I have time) about how it looks. Springtime can be iffy with sand and gravel from runoff and DOT traction controlling, so we'll let you know how it looks out there.

So Tink and I went up Rist Canyon fro FoCo then took Stove Prairie south to Masonville.
Rist Canyon- First few miles were great then we ran into more sand than I've ever seen up there-Be careful up there
Stove Prairie South of Rist- Great, very few sandy spots, mostly towards the shoulder where there was any
WATCHOUT FOR DEER, One watched Tink go by on his blue 3G and my red 6G must have been like a matador to a bull, she jumped right towards the road as I went by!
It was a beautiful day to ride, plently of bikes of there, although we didn't see any Viffers:cool:

Rist Canyon is still SANDY. I got behind a 'Busa on Stove Prairie and we had a good time. Can't wait till I know that road a little better so I know what to expect from each turn, since most of them have VERY LITTLE visibility I have to take them kinda slow to be safe. My chicken strips on the rear are less than 1/2" though, so I'm not doing too bad. I wonder if its normal that my rear ChickStrips are so small while my fronts are +/- 1" wide.

Rist Canyon is almost sand-free! Only the last couple tight turns before the final straight (headed west) have considerable gravel. I got stuck behind a string of big pickups hauling quads so I didn't get to rip through like I would have liked, but I still don't know all the turns so well through there anyway, I will try to ride it once a week to start memorizing the route so that I have a better idea what to expect out of each turn.
Stove prairie (headed south) still looks good, got a bunch of rain today so the road was still wet when I went through and that caused me to ease up a bit, but looks to be good to go for the rest of the season.

Bringing this back up so that I can start updating it, as well as anyone else who wants to keep the NoCo people updated on conditions.
