What do you clean your chain with? I've used wd 40 or other similar stuff. I've been using Dupont chain saver to lube. Thanks.:star:

I use 140/70 gear lube and the chain doesn't require cleaning. The rear wheel is another story however. :glee:

I've used only two products. You have already tried them. I like them both but when spraying them on, with the wd40, you should be carefull of overspray onto the brakes. I usually do this at the coin op car wash and wash the crap off with water pressure, but you need to be very careful with that too. You don't want to blow any of those o or x rings away. Many here will warn you away from that but it has worked well for me. Can't complain about the life of my chains.

I have been using the Dupont Chainsaver for lubing the chain for many years now and like that stuff. Especially now that I have a white rear wheel.

I use Jet-A jet fuel to clean my dirty chains. It is basically kerosine. A low flash point, mild solvent. Then lube the inside of the chain o rings.

I use kerosine and a crap 2 inch paintbrush. Cardboard under the bike and stand. Go round and round. Leave the cardboard in place overnight. Then lube next day.
Used to use 90 weight oil. Now am using DuPont chain saver. Seems to work real well. Chain doesn't SEEM to pick up much grit. Runs quiet. Time will tell.

Kerosene and DuPont chain saver. WD works for cleaning too.

+1 for Clean Up Chain Cleaner (by Maxima). Smells like a super strong solvent, but it's water soluble so it's real easy to use. Spray it on, hit it with a brush, rinse it off...viola, clean chain!

I also use the Maxima chain wax as my chain lube. Seems to be working pretty well.

I got 34k miles out of my OEM chain using Kerosine and Chain Wax. Use the Kerosine when the chain is cold, scub it, and dry it off. Go for a short ride with the chain dry, come back when the chain is warm, and spray Chain Wax (gold can). Won't use anything else.

I use the following two products which I found on Web Bike World reviews. The cleaner works fantastic on the chain. It does not strip the grease embedded in the O rings and is easy to rinse off with water. Also works great with tar removal. It is also not toxic to your skin or the enviorment. The lube is the Web Bike World heir to the now unavailable Dupot lube and works great. It goes on easy with controlled splatter, penetrates quickly, dries fast, no fling and does not attract dirt.

You are correct. I purchased Bean Clean about 2 maybe 3 years ago as a 4 pack. Glad I did. Shame the company is not in operation, it really worked and was safe to use. Hope it is just a temporary outage, hate to think that a win win product like that did not sell well.

I'm using Pro-Oiler with 5W20 oil. Min flow setting. Was getting my white rear wheel real messy until I tried S100 cycle cleaner. Been a revelation: white rim clean in five mins. Then had the idea of cleaning the chain with it: same result. Just spray it on rim/chain, rub them with the included sponge and rinse. Repeat on though spots.

BTW, my '09 has 50,000 km on it.

Not sure how it would work on chain wax or DuPont chain saver but I'd certainly give it a go: it's a powerful degreaser :)

JMO, but a "powerful degreaser" is the last thing you want to use on your chain. Some of it is bound to seep past the O-rings, and attack the lube. I think I'd stick to using it on the wheel, and forego the chain. JMO mind you.

Roger that. I thought about it, but I trust my Pro-Oiler is up to re-oiling right after I clean. If it doesn't, I'll just change the chain when it's toast. I don't mind being the guinea pig. If the chain goes bad, I'll let you all know!

I like to have a clean machine :)
