Saw Mike Hailwood in the seventies. He was the same, hardly moved on the bike but what a rider. Never passed him though.

I disagree but, this may be another troll post. However, the purpose of getting off the bike is to actually reduce your lean angle and to lower your center of gravity which then makes the bike more stable. But, what do I know, I only did one trackday with Aussie Dave Anthony, of World Superbike fame and who now rides for Team Hammer in the MotoAmerica 600cc class. I'm sure he doesn't know anything....

What the fast guys correctly assume when teaching is that you ain't fast and probably never will be. Also the dudes from OZ all talk funny and he may have said nay instead of knee.

I doubt that he was suggesting that any one there use this technique on the street.

Thankee Jesus you know a little more now.

BB, you are correct in saying he doesn't condone this on the street, as there are too may hazards. I know a little, but what I know most is that there is a lot I don't know.

I know I sounded like an arrogant braggart, I did so on purpose to state that there are definite reasons for getting the knee down. It's actually just a byproduct of correct body position in fast turns. Maybe I ain't fast, maybe I won't ever be in comparison to fast people, but I still learned a lot.

At one time, I thought I was fast. Until a CSS instructor passed me, turned around and pointed where he wanted me to turn in. It was a huge piece of humble pie. Hell, I ate the whole pie.

Probably a good idea in your case. Birth control by gag reflex.

Marib? Is he talking about you? Nothing makes me smile more than passing a knee dragger while sitting straight up and not shifting gears. Then they WOT the straight to get by me. Jam the brakes so hard in the corner you can see him get loose then I roll right on by before they even hit the apex. no downshifting no trail braking know nothing just maintain corner speed. I do put a knee down on occasion at the track when I'm on the 1198 but on the VFR it doesn't seem to have enough power to stand back upon its own and I'm too lazy to work that hard. I ride the VFR so much on the street I don't put any down just gotta have it.the asphalt on the canyons here in SoCal is rougher than 16grit sand paper. This stuff grinds peg feelers off in a couple hundred miles. Knee pucks are what too expensive to replace every ride...

That was me (figuratively). Hit the brakes so hard the front end chatters then....have no speed to carry through the corner.
