I sold my '97 CBR900RR and have been looking for a clean Gen 6 VFR, I do love the RWB scheme. Found this '07 for sale with 2400 miles, it has a plate tuck kit, 2 Brothers exhaust, and a Corbin Gunfighter seat in Carbon with Red piping.

All I can say is it is the most smooth, easy to ride fast bike I have ever ridden. Just awesome. My next mods will be a throttle lock and probably a set of Heli Bars.

Welcome to The World! The RWB is still one of the best looking VFR's IMO, looks even better with white wheels, but white are a bitch to keep clean! Nice find BTW, my '09 also came with the 2 Bros exhaust but only 347 miles on it! I had to buy my aftermarket seat though.

BTW, what part of the country are you located? A few of us So. Cal riders like to do some decent mileage rides, which are apropos for a bike like ours. Figured you might want to tag along sometime.

    Cheers!

Nice color scheme, although I ama bit biased :)

The 6th Gen could benefit from a PCV due to a lean fueling condition in the lower RPM, but you'll know if you need it.

Congratulations and welcome to the forum.

I am in Florida, live in S. Florida but keep the bike where I work in the Ocala area. I manage a Rally School/Race Track and Military training facility up here so I keep my bikes in the Ocala National Forest where I stay. Also have a KTM 500EXC dirt bike.

Thanks for the kind words, I really love this bike and am so happy I found one with low miles and clean as this one is. I am thinking I will go with the Throttlemeister lock along with the Heli Bars. I am confused about the Anti Vib product, does that replace the bar weights and then you remove the actual weight and replace it with the Throttlemeister lock assembly?

Another pic plus a pic of my KTM in it's natural environment.

I was wondering if you could clarify this statement for me? I think I may need a remap or some solution. I have a very choppy throttle at 0-5% throttle opening, basically it is acting like a cold carbureted motor with a slight stumble.

Any ideas? Other than that I love the bike, installed a Throttlemeister throttle lock and still thinking about a set of risers.

    Thanks for any help.

This is a common problem. It is a low speed fueling issue which results in issues with choppiness, on / off throttle sensation, surging, etc. A PCV will resolve it.

Welcome to the RWB VFRworld! 2400 miles, that's brand new. And ah-men to the PCV recommendation. I almost sold my RWB until I added my PCV and now love it!

Can you give me a rough idea of what the install of the PC5 is? Is it plug and play or do I need to install maps via laptop? Not a step by step just about what I need to do to install.

Thanks, I am waiting on the Heli bars for now, I like how the bike feels as is and with the throttle lock I think that gives me enough break on my wrists to avoid going with the risers. We'll see.

Look at post #26 of this thread.

    http://vfrworld.com/forums/showthread.php/47300-Winter-Updates-to-My-2007-RWB

It is a plug and play installation. Dyno Jet has a few different maps that can be uploaded to the PCV for the most common modifications (pipe, air filter, etc.). It comes with the stock map, so if you have no modifications, then you don't need to upload anything.

Thanks so much for the info, very helpful. I have a PCV on order should be here this weekend, I got so tired of the off throttle stumble.

I have a 07 with a Two Brothers exhaust and stock air filter, can you recommend which map I should download? I see a few with the Micron exhaust and Staintune but no Two Brothers for the '07 year. Will I be fine just going with the Zero Map instead?

Thanks again for the help, this place is such a great resource.

I have a similar setup and my recollection of a conversation with Dyno-jet is that the Micron is what they recommended. You can also load two different maps into the PCV and by using a contact closure, you can flip back and forth between them. I downloaded a modified map off of VFRD along with the stock map and now run the modded map 99% of the time. Before that I would alternate between the two maps to see which one the bike ran better with. All that being said, my plan is to get the bike "properly" dyno-tuned and have the tuner provide me with two maps, one for maximum HP and another for maximum MPG. I'm just waiting for some free time to install some cat-less headers I have and the removal of the PAIR valve system, so it will be a bit before I do that as this is primarily my commuter bike so down time is at a minimum.

Here are the PCV maps for the 6th Gen. The PCV will come pre-loaded with the stock map (16-005-001). You should go with map 16-005-002, 16-005-003 or 16-005-004. Your best bet is to contact Dyno Jet tech support through their website and ask which map they recommend for the Two Brothers exhaust. They are exceptional with responding to questions.

I wonder if a PCV will solve my fueling issues. I've never had a need for one but now I don't think it'd be a bad idea. Are the PCV's bike specific or will any one do?

They are somewhat bike specific, as their ECU connection and default map would need to match. That being said, the PCV is only shown to fit certain year VFRs but in reality, the same one for the 6 Gen is known to fit a 5 Gen, the mapping however would be way off and there are no off-the-shelf maps for a PCV ready for a 5 Gen. In short, you should look for a PCV that is meant for your year VFR as you'll have much less to worry about.

OOTV is correct. To get the right part number, you need to plug in your specific bike. Go to the link below, enter the bike info, get the part number, then do an internet search on that part number and you'll find it for far less than retail. If you're looking for a PCV for the 2007, then it is part number 16-005.

Alrighttttt..... I received my new Power Commander V, bought from an ebay retailer for $269, pretty good price, and it was shipped from CA to FL in 2 days, can't beat that. Installation was relatively easy, the directions were detailed and with the advice from here it took me about an hour. The hardest part by far was unplugging the damn O2 sensor plugs, seriously the most difficult F-ing thing you can imagine.

I went with the map for a micron exhaust, 16-005-002.

Put it all back together and viola! The difference is very noticeable, especially at low speed and off throttle response. That annoying stumble is gone and it feels much smoother. Is it faster? Who knows, probably not, but I really don't think of this as a fast bike anyway, compared to my CBR900RR or 954. This is a great, smooth, comfortable bike that now has good response off idle.

The only issue I have is the idle seems to be higher than before the PCV. Can that be adjusted down or is that a function of the map?

All in all a worthwhile investment of $270 and an hour of time.
