I want to build a two-bike shed, something to keep them clean, dry and relatively pest free. I'm thinking 8x8 might be affordable. Tight but affordable.

I only intend on using it from spring to early fall, the rest of the time they'll be in heated storage.

Have any pics or plans of one you built or use?

Place I just bought has a shed at the bottom of the driveway. It might be 10x10, but I haven't actually gone and measured. Its framed sitting on a concrete slab. Double doors on the front, window in the side. Came with a big heavy work bench too. I've got my tool box, and 5th gen in there with lots of room for my Hawk GT and a random assortment of other things. Snowblower lives there in the winter. Here's an okay photo.

Interesting thought. But I checked the price. Rent one of those for two years and you have paid for a well built stick frame shed complete with concrete floor. I just built one, but not for my bike. On the west coast here, and where Rob lives, it is feasible to be riding 8 months of the year. Some of us ride year round. I have a double garage that my bike shares with my woodworking equipment. It is not heated, but it doen't need to be. Would be nice if it was though.

That's a nice shed there Hawk. Looks like you may have a decent sized piece of property. What the hell is a snow blower?

Go to the hardware store and ask how to build one. If you buy the lumber from them they'll help.

I have one that is 12 X 8 but easily adapted to what you want. It is several pages of PDF so I will stry to send it to you in a PM. Otherwise, you can PM me with your email addy and I will try sending it that way. Plans also come with a materials list. And it is in American measurements!

I just finished a materials list and it came to $605 including tax. The 8X8 kits the big hardware stores sell for about $700 but they use 2x3 studs and don't come with roofing or floor.

( I told myself NO projects this summer....)

Those wood kits you buy from places like Home Depot are not too bad but they are sure made with shit lumber in those kits. I just tore one of those down that I built back in 1989. It held up not too bad. But your would have had to redesign the door area for the bikes to get inside. Mine came with a roof and floor.

I saved more money building it myself, the most timing consuming aspect was painting it.

Btw...thanks it was fun to build

You can get the plans on the internet for about $15. I know because I got some a few months ago for the spring project...just haven't decided which spring I'm actually going to get around to doing it.

What are you thinking for a floor? Frame it up and put down a plywood deck? Pour a concrete slab?

Thanks! Our lot is 100' x 150', decent, but not huge. Believe it or not, the guy we bought from built this shed a bigger twin behind and below this one (our lot slopes). About the same width, but long enough to fit my 16.5' canoe in with room to spare. Either he saw me coming, or we think very much alike.

The floor would be 3/4 t&g comply. I'm getting so busy I'm thinking about a quality cover, and mouse traps.
