From reading the wheel swap FAQ, the F1 wheel is a perfect swap up front, but is 2.5" instead of the more standard 3" of the F2.

But what about the F1 rear? is it also a drop-in?

I'm finding decent prices for both on ebay, and the prospect of not having to machine the front has my interesting. But.. Are the F1 wheels for radial tires, or bias-ply only?

You really want to go with the complete F2 front end and F2 rear wheel.

A whole front-end would be nice, and isn't as expensive as I thought it would be. I'm seeing a bunch of front ends on eBay for about $250. I figure it would be ~$700 in parts and machine shop work to do a front end. Not sure I want to spend that much (on top of new tires).

How much does the F2 front end lower the steering head? (and change rake/trail as a result?)

Buy a set of 1988/89 triples from Europe.
Straight swap and 41mm fork size. Cbr600 fork size
This is what I did to my 700, but I am in Europe.
Maybe I should buy these bits for all you Statesiders, and ship them to you.

For the rear F1 wheel, not a straight swamp, BUT a European VFR750F 17" rear wheel is same looking and a straight fit to the 198-87 VFR700/750F. Also the first CBR1000F rear wheel might be a staright fit to the VFR, has same brake disc at least, and was last year (1989) 4.0 wide for some markets.

I was also at time (when I had a 1987 VFR750F) making plans to fit a NC24 VFR400R 16" front rim (should be staringth fit as the CBR600F1) on my whit a CBR600F2 rear, but never did
