FI light came on during a ride

"New" 99 that I just got 2 weeks ago. I've already had the RR problem that is widely publicized here and now this. I stopped my bike turned it off, then restarted and it turned off like normal. The manual says you should take it straight to a dealer but it seems to be running fine (and no light). What ever happened to Hondas being "bulletproof"?

Just wondering if anyone else has seen this and if it is something to worry about.

    Thanks

    hey,
Does the FI light stay on when you turn key on?

There is about 8 coeds that come with the light staying on...

Faluty stop switch, ingn switch, stop relay,...etc

I've been on a couple rides since this happened and no light. Maybe just a glitch, but was kinda jumpy after having the R/R go out THE DAY I bought it. So far no further problems (fingers crossed).

When I put my Power Commander in, before I contacted PC to get the correct modifications for the map (the one the instructions say to use was NOT right by a long shot), the FI light came on. But as soon as I got the map right, it's been good to go ever since. If you don't have a PC in it, then it's prolly like VFRracer said, a faulty switch somewhere along the line.

I find it unlikely that your R/R "went out" the 1st day of purchase. You can ride quite some time w/ a bad R/R and a fully charged battery. If you bought from a dealer you need to complain, or if from private party. They stuck you w/ their problem. Beware that a bad or erratic stator, poor wiring, poor connectors, and poor grounding can lead to multiple R/R failures. Good Luck, outside of the obvious electrical glitches it's an awesome bike.
