This has to be the cause.
Meantime you cleaned all connectors. It has to be ok for a long time. I'm pretty sure too..

But have you removed the stator/rec/reg connector, if not that will be the next one to catch you out

Remove the connector from the R/R and solder the wiring.

But i don't think that's the actual problem. As you describe it .....imho the kill switch or the side standaard is the main problem.

    That's what I think too...

Maybe I should try replacing the side stand sensor? It's about 60 bucks.

Number one, the RR to stator connection will fail eventually, so just do it. Number two, I still think you have a bad main fuse holder and or big blue connection. Number three, to humor you and fully diagnosed the problem, just disconnect the side stand switch and bridge it, to rule it out of the equation.

Cutting out the main fuse holder and replacing it with a higher quality unit, replacing the RR with a FH020AA and direct soldering it, as well as bridging the grounds in the big blue connector are just things that should be done to the VFR as soon as you buy it. So just do them now while you're trying to find out what's wrong.

I guess I'll do all of this during the winter, is it a hard job to get through?

No. It's not a hard job. Just takes some time and patience.
For starters....... Stll I recommend to bridge the sidestand sensor. For me it's the prime suspect.

It is a process of elimination, only you can do it, we can give advice but that is all. As said, bypass the sidestand switch, then you may have to bypass the kill switch. This shutting down isn't related to moving the handelbars?

Oh another problem I had like this, my connection between the ignition key witch and main harness. It had burnt up. I had to cut it out an direct solder it.

This isn't very common, but its worth checking.

Alright, I will bypass the side stand sensor, and then I will check the connector between the main harmess and the ingnition key switch.

Don't forget the kill switch. More likely than the connector between the main harness and ignition key......

Bringing back a very old post, sorry for being this late!

I finally fixed my problem, it was related to some wierd looking fuses, I don't have pictures, but the fuses "teeth" were not parallel at all. the teeth end were almost touching...

Put new fuses in and everything ran just fine!
