    Hi kids,

The tank on my '84 VF1000 is in dire need of repair. I plan on doing it myself, but would like to take my time and do it right, without any bike downtime. I'm looking on eBay right now...what other year tanks will mount up? Will the 500/750/etc tanks fit? I don't care about it being correct, the right colors, etc.

Similarly, my bodywork is shot. I'd love to find some obnoxious Chinese race plastics, but they don't seem to exist (unless you know of some?). What year/model plastics will fit?

I bought the bike for $700 on Tuesday and put almost 600 miles on it in 36 hours between Thursday and Friday. This thing is pretty neat!

    Thanks guys!
    Nick

It was a one year import to the US so spare plastics are hard to come by, aftermarket stuff doesn't exist afaik. Check eBay for tanks and plastics. Any tank may fit with enough work but I'm not aware of a bolt on, unless the 1000R tank is close enough. But they're super rare also. It is a cool bike and worth a little effort to keep on the road, sounds like you got a good deal, got pics?

Thanks for the tips! I'll be scouring over eBay if you need me.

Here's the old girl (this is the good side). Aptly named Squishy.
