I did 120mph on my 5th gen before I let up on it. This was on the highway and it was also windy.

I Could tell you but the radar gun on the Chp unit last year must of stopped at 100 mph ....... after I stopped he said I was doing 100 + ..... Hey I was merging for crying out loud ..... I have a tooth dropped on the front sprocket so not sure but indicated 140-145 catching up to Tori last weekend. I'll carry the gps soon and get a real report for ya

I've done indicated 145 on my 95. (I've only had it 3 weeks, I'm still dialing everything in.) Actual top recorded by the GPS was 132. This was a 5th gear roll on to 10,500 rpm. Never bothered upshifting as the run was really only to get away from some idiot traffic doing lane bouncing behind me. I'll have it at the track this weekend and will see what it will do on the shortish straight of the West track.

Got my 07 VFR to 244km/h (151,6 mph) indicated on the German Autobahn this week. The bike had the panniers on and reached this speed in fifth gear. Wouldn`t go any faster in 6th. Guess I`ve could have gone a bit faster without the panniers. It kept easily up with my mates `99 ZX6R Ninja so I`m pleased with the Viffers speed..

My fifth gen would indicate 157mph at the end of the front straight at Road America just as I got on the binders for turn one. It is a long stretch and uphill for the first half so I was pleased. Given some error in the speedo it was probably closer to 148 or so. It would stay with the new 600rr's so that is a good measure. Top speed is good but you can compensate for a lot with late braking when on the track. I would not recommend riding at that level on any road though.

Bottom line......performance is more than adequate even with stock gearing.

All I can say is, at 90mph on my old fizzer (FZR1000) my GPS told me that my speedo was 8mph off with original rim size and tires. I would bet most sport bikes are at least 10+ off at top speed.

BTW, I had the old girl up to an indicated 140 on the back roads of San Diego county. She is stable, but not near as stable as my FZR1000...that thing was so friggin' stable at top speed you would have thought her brother was a sherman tank. Yeah baby! :)

6 gen bone stock ex/ 15 tooth front sprocket and speedo healer 141 and just sits there . with the stock sprocket (16 tooth) I dont think it will hit 150 . I will try .At maxton in September with a timing slip timed to 1/100th of a second. so the speedo bs will be gone

    T-Bone,

I can't tell from your answer, is 160-170mph, what your bike can do or what is the actual highest speed you have ever done on your VFR?

Speedo said 154 in 5th gear two weeks ago on 91 south in CT. Thing still would have accelerated, I was coming to a corner though so thought to slow down. I have to say I have done 145 in 6th and it felt like it took a while, well, in 5th, you get to 155 quickly and it feels like it wants to pull more.
It is a 6th gen 2007 in the fast colors RWB!

I will bring my GPS one of these days to verify, but based on how it felt at 155 in 5th, I guarantee the thing can get to at least an indicated 160-165. Just make sure the road is straight and there arent any cars around, especially LEOs!!

between 120 and 155 the only big difference is how fast the cars are going by, thats why i wont do these speeds near other autos.

'05 Red, indicated 153 (probably about 135) on a very long, very very straight road in southern New Mexico. Held that speed for about 15 minutes... that's the amazing part. Didn't know at the time I had passed a Captain in my Squadron on his own bike while going that fast. Luckily, he's a bit of a speed demon himself.
