Ordered the parts for a CCT repair! The dreaded sound started to appear about two weeks ago and now it's pretty noisy until it hits 140F.

Question though....do I need to quit riding it until I get a chance to fix it, or is it OK to ride for a week or so? I'll garage it if I need to, but my Hypermotard bit the bullet last week (catastrophic electrical failure a month out of warranty...weeee....) and the thought of carpooling to work hurts my soul.

I've ridden though it for a couple weeks. But I babied it and got the new cct's in before it got too loud.

Eventually they will start to sound like the engine is going to let go. It gets so bad, you won't want to ride it anymore.

Yesterday I changed the short waterpump hose which has been seeping coolant. Samco had sent me a free replacement.
Had to drain coolant and made unpleasant discovery that need to drain the oil in VFR before pulling the water pump (on VF1000R don't need to).
That filled my container of new, clean, just drained coolant with oil. Hit self over head with torque hammer a few times as self punishment.
Refilled with new coolant, burped the hoses, and fired the bike up till fans came on.
Then let it cool to get rid of bubbles in the cooling system.
Today refitted the sprocket cover and rebuilt clutch slave cylinder. Now to refill clutch and bleed clutch.

Edit - clutch refilled with super dot 4, bled and working fine. now have a rideable bike again.

Upgraded the clutch slave cylinder and line, general cleaning and tucking the hoses/wires away better.

After cleaning the swing arm, time for a snort or two[IMG]
Thought of using my trusty torque hammer on my nuts, but decided to pass.

Took the VFR for a quick 30km test ride. Running perfectly. Next up is a carby balance.

Investigating charging issues on my '94 today.... stopped for gas last week and guess what - dead battery - had to push start it to get home (that's 500 miles on new battery & R/R). So after reading all the great posts here on R/R and charging issues, I checked the R/R, stator and connectors and they seem okay. So I ordered a VFRness and a new battery. Hopefully the VFRness will cure the problem! Thanks for all those great posts on R/R and charging solutions!

Nothing huge today, but i've been doing a fair few bits lately: R&G crash protection, bar risers, new MRA screen, new Delkevic exhaust.. Soon: Puig levers, upgrading headlight bulbs and the general continuation of making the bike cleaner and nicer with replacement stainless bolts and fixings around the bike.

Next real challenge is figuring out why my horn has stopped working and to fit a Denali sound-bomb so i can go from 'meep meep' to 'HRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRNK'

Funny to think about the seasons: 2wheelrush is trying to squeak a couple more days out of the season w/ heated gear and thx1138 is getting rolling with his.
We need a north/ south shipping program- I still want to ride.
    Sniff....

Did you check for shorts? Does the bike draw <= 3 mA when turned off?

New owner and member here, picked upm a well maintained one owner 95 VFR little over a month ago. Suspension work was the first order of business, today finally finished completion of assembling a fully adjustable 46mm Showa shock (305mm eye to eye) from a 2000 Ducati ST2. Sourced the shock, Hyperco spring, Race Tech gold valve , oil, spring adapters etc off EBay. $360 total. No mods or anything done to the bike other than an extension for the top mount and some washers for the eye mounts. IMG_20151029_112525.jpg

Nice job Husky I've done the measuring and find the hyper front end would work on the 4th, so it should also work on a 5th right ;)

Haven't had a chance to ride due to monsoon weather, but have rode it with the race tech comp and rebound gold valves and springs for the forks i installed. What a world of difference, so eager to get out for a good flogging with this shock.
