I'm 63 and have terminal cancer, I have a 97 VFR and a 2015 BMW R1200RT. The VFR is at my cabin in NC for riding the mountain roads and the RT is in FL for long distance riding. Never want to stop.

The older you get, the more you realize how short life is and there's always the chance it might be shorter than we expect. Two awesome bikes, live fully and ride the hell out of 'em.

gee I ride my vfr even if one headlight is out,you only need one working. I have a new full set of lights on the way. I added some 89 gas and fuel stabi, techron a dash of dry gas-checked the tire pressure then ended up putting the cover over it- I think I should get the lights installed.:crushed:

I'm not as old as dirt, but dirt was still shiny and new when I was young....

Just did a 700 mile, two day, twisties ride on my red '99.

Yes, all my non-riding acquaintances call it a crotch rocket, to which I usually reply:

"Yea, ok, but its a nice, slow, comfy crotch rocket... for old guys who like to go fast." :eek:nthego:

New guy here. I love this topic. I am 46 this year and back in the saddle after long break (20 yrs) from having a bike. Man it feels soooo good to be back! The feeling I get knowing that after a long day at work, I can come home and hop on the VFR and ride puts a smile on my face. Keep riding safe out there! I hope to have many more years to enjoy time spent behind the handlebars.

I too returned to biking after a 20 plus year gap. Man was I knackered after my first ride on a recalcitrant st2.
What I learned was my skills were rusted so badly, I was a danger to myself and other road users.
When I left the the best tyre were still biased ply. I returned in 2010 but rode intermittently. It's only now since getting my Vfr that I am riding more and growing in confidence and recovering some of my skills and finding new techniques to try and improve on. The best thing is I know the limits and have the maturity to pull back and ride within them. I enjoy my riding more now. And better still the Vfr is perfect for an .... Ahem... Mature rider!

I lived. Do to some wiered circumstances, I got very lucky in this one. A few seconds slower and I'd been eating glass, a different lane and I'd be dead, without the GoPro it be his word against mine. When the world saw that yahoo in Texas last week, just about everybody was shocked. I say "just about everybody" because we see these types of dirt bags every time we saddle up and we ride with our guard up. You guys ride and I HIGHLY recommend you ride with a camera just in case you can't speak for yourself after you go down.

Holy crap, did you even notice there wheels turning towards you?
Your right, pretty much happens daily, have the spidey senses on full alert daily all the time, every minute, every second. You're very lucky definitely will invest in a camera soon.

Thanks. I like to buy bikes well farkled. This one has the wheels, -1+2 gears, speedo healer, seat, bars, Leo exhaust, bags, and fender delete.

I wanted a road bike that leans over. My 2001 Africa Twin is RWB. I like the color scheme, but it drags the ZEGA panniers through the corners.

I kinda feel duped. My research found that the VFR800 is slow compared to sport bikes.

PERFECT Leans over, slowish, ultra reliable, and RWB color.

Road the VFR for the first time yesterday. It is everything that i have read; however, it is not slow at all.
