Whew! When I read the subject line I feared we had lost a VFRWorld member! But yes, Bowie and now Frey. Sad.
It feels like losing old friends even though I didn't know any of them personally. I loved Alan Rickman's work especially the perpetually piss off Shakespearean actor in Gallaxy Quest and the angel in Dogma.
I get worried when famous people, a lot wealthier than me die younger than me. Glenn was 67, I'm 71. Sorry I misspelled Glenn's name.
I have been watching my dad go SLOWLY down hill for the last 5 years, losing his strength and his mind. There are worse things that dying quickly.
Lemmy, is that Kenny the leas singer for Tower of Power? Shit, there dropping like flies. Never heard what Glenn died from....most likely cancer being a boomer and all. RIP
Lemmy was the lead for Motorhead -(Ace of Spades) - Pretty much a one off - and usually wore a Black Stetson. Given the usual excesses of heavy metal band members, its impressive he made 70! Taken by cancer. With Alan Rickman and all the other famous people checking out recently, its a really sad start to 2016 SkiMad
Jim, I'm sorry for you and your Dad, terrible way to go, I don't want to live long enough to get into that situation, I want at least some control over my destination
Anybody that made Harry Potter shit his britches like Allen Rickman's character deserves a big RIP. Rickman as The Sheriff of Nottingham in one version of Robin Hood and as Elliot Marsden in Quigley Down Under was tour de force acting.
"Quigley Down Under" was a GREAT movie. Allen Rickman was perfect. I love the part when Marsden says he got responses from all over but Quigley "had a way with words" - about a 6 inch group at 900 yards, shot on the ad looking for a marksman
I forgot about Allen Rickman in "Quigley Down Under." He made a fantastic murderous villain. "I said I never had much use for one. I never said I didn't know how to use it...." (Not a Rickman line but a good one just the same.)
Wow, add Abe Vigoda to this month as well. http://www.cnn.com/2016/01/26/entertainment/abe-vigoda-dead-obit-feat/index.html
