So, my headlights went out on me and it seemed like it was the switch as discussed on the forum. So rather than messing with it I replaced the switch assembly. Success!! For a minute.....Had high and low beam and now nothing again!!! All other lights and cluster work as they should! HELP!!!!!

By any chance do you have HID lights. If you do, and you have both high beams and low beams activated when you fire up the bike, the amount of current drawn in the beginning is far too much for your fuse to handle and it will blow. With HID, you need to start your bike with just the low beams on. You can then wait for them to warm up (about 14 seconds) then turn on your high beams. Check the fuse. One fuse for both hi and lo beams

Please clarify which switch you replaced. Note the above fix is with regards to the starter switch and not the light switch. Since you titled this "left hand switch" I am guessing you replaced the light switch, unless your controls differ from what I expect, with the light switch on the left and the starter switch on the right.
