January ill be 49. I own a Vfr1200,with some performance and comfort mods. Most of my riding friends are on Harleys. I actually tried a Honda cruiser before my 1200, but got bored with it quick.I've always riden sport bikes, since I started riding, and still enjoy them best. The performance in acceleration, braking and handling are what keeps me feeling young. Harleys and other cruisers are nice machines, I'm just not ready for one yet. Although my dealer has a Honda F6b that I like.
Don't let age get in your way. Ride what you like, not what everyone else is riding!

Yeah, well, I was 63 in January, got my first bike, BSA bantam, when I was 13, rode unlicensed and no insurance, but got caught, lost me license before I got it! That was a lifetime ago, lost count of the number of bikes that have passed through my hands, last one was a blackbird, aka cbrxxx1100, what a machine, way too much speed for Turkish roads, been dodging pileups and crazy drivers for 21 years over here, the VFR is the best bike I have ever ridden, will keep it til one of us drops! Even the wife loves it! I commute every day, heavy traffic and motorway, round trip about 80 miles, so getting plenty of use out of it! Touring in Greece later this year, very bike friendly country, especially on the islands!

Single young at heart dating 30 yr

First I will say that I am not old. I am however 52 yrs of age. If you know me then you probably think I am in the 30s. I date younger girls, have a gf 30 yrs of age. I dont look nor act old. I keep healthy and active. I have ran my bike at the track for a very good reaction time and fast run at 11.0. The bike is faster now. I am not any older and in condition to run it again and ride it like I was 30. My bike is a 5th gen 1999, the best bike from most perspectives. Cam gear driven and great power. I ran better than the 6th gen bikes.
But as far winning an argument with a wife, do you really win?
Now, it is also entirely up to you if "you are too old for that bike".
Are you acting your old age? ha Are you able to act young enough to handle the real power and fun of the VFR abilities?

My 95 VFR was delivered to the dealer on my 25th birthday in December 1994. Still have it.

    Me, 47.
    VFR, 21.

I've been contemplating an 8th gen. Seeing 2015 DLX models sitting at dealers for around $10K sure is tempting, but I really don't need 2 bikes and have a lot of attachment to my 95. My first date with my wife was a ride on it, among other highlights of my life. Seems it's the mid 90s every spring when I start it.:glee:

I'm not old, just experienced, and the 95 is still plenty of bike for me.

Vlad, put those thoughts in the trash. Getting rid of your bike with so many great memories would be like throwing out a picture album of every great experience starting with your wife.
You would regret it for ever.
    Of course JMO

I say keep it! I still own my '95 Ducati 900SS/SP that I bought new back in 1995. Although it is not at the top of the food chain, it still brings me joy to ride it and it appears to bring others joy and memories as well. Anytime I show up at places where other motorcyclist hang out, I get a lot of compliments and many stories of "I wish I never sold mine!". One great memory I have is when the wife and I (my girlfriend back then) rode up to Santa Cruz from the San Fernando valley to hang out with a friend of mine who had recently moved up there. Something we both remember and will most likely never forget. I just recently updated the suspension, as being a 20+ year old bike it was due for a refresh and it appears to have breathed a little more life into the ole girl!

I'm half way to 72, and I still have my original VF750 and a red deluxe. Don't need two bikes either but can't part the old girl. I did part with my wife though! We are still friends and she was the one who suggested I get the deluxe.

I'm 52 and have been riding off and on for maybe a total of 20 years. As a kid, I rode mini bikes and a few dirt bikes. Took my first road ride on a friend's V45 Magna (I think it was) in 1983, and have owned only an 82 Yamaha Virago, a 91 Nighthawk, and now the 07 RWB Interceptor. I plan to keep riding until I don't feel safe on a bike. Hopefully, that will be a long time from now.

I don't have it anymore, sadly enough. BUT, it so happens that I gave the bike to my son who rode it for about a year. But when he sold it, he sold it to the guy who lives next door to me, and I haven't seen him ride it once since then. I saw it a couple weeks ago sitting in his garage with the seat off and a bunch of crap piled on top. I'm hoping someday he'll offer to sell it back to me for a song. I really LOVED that motorcycle.

Old people don't ride VFR's. There, that answers the question. Why would anybody decide to be old then ride a VFR? Does age matter?

As the saying goes..."We don't quit playing because we get old, we get old because we quit playing."
