just getting back into the groove, reviving the old girl vfr750 '90 from some misspend time in the garage, no riding in almost 8 years....... i hang my head in shame but now the urge is back and already i have pulled the carb off, cleaned jets etc, sworn black & blue trying to get that carb back on, check sparkies, new oil etc. moment of truth. OMG it LIVES... :love-struck: wow what a machine, love it already more plans, ebay running hot
Welcome back on board muTAS ... 8 years is a long time but I am sure you will make up for it ... Take it easy at first and ride safe mate
:welcome: to the nuts house  Glad to see you back on the saddle :thumb: Ride safe and ATGATT...!
GP sounds good mutAS I would like to get there one day ... This year the wife and I are packing the 1200 up and heading to tasie for a 2 week ride ... The ride to the GP would be a long one for you mate, I did 100 k's today and the inside of my legs are feeling it might see about the thinner seat for the new bike Safe riding all
mutAS, depends on how high up in the NT you are but that said providing you can spend at least a week getting down to PI and allow another week for the return trip it wouldn't bee too bad, have to do a lot of camping along the way
hi terryLB & NormK, not the top end .. just 'The Alice', yeah day and a half to get to some nice roads. usually turn off at pt augusta to get into the hills then have fun for 3-4 days through to island. so right you are its a week trip there and back both ways. last time was double up with GF (now Wife) back in '03 did the hotham pass to Canberra as well. good memories Previous year in '02, had this bike only 6 months, went up and across to rockhampton and pretty much followed the coast all the way to PI then kept going until SA then headed home. love some of the back roads thru SE QLD coast, new england, and gibbsland areas took about 6 weeks, was an adventure, no camping, pub rooms and great conversations with local's on the way (once they saw the plate) LOL
.....:lemo: was going to wait 'till it was together but maybe a progression piece http://vfrworld.com/photos/showphoto.php/photo/33298/title/naked1-750fl/cat/500 http://vfrworld.com/photos/showphoto.php/photo/33299/title/naked2-750fl/cat/500 http://vfrworld.com/photos/showphoto.php/photo/33300/title/her-clothes-need-men/cat/500 http://vfrworld.com/photos/showphoto.php/photo/33301/title/clutch-master-and-slav/cat/500
Welcome back! Nice bike, familar sight, been there done that. Great ride, you gona do the carburetor service right? OEM is usually the best, bowl gaskets, needle-seats etc, its worth the work. Carburetor synchronization is a must too.
yeah parts are the problem, got the oem Carb o-ring set from the US worked out to half price (even including the postage) compared to Dealer, but took a month to get here. Everything in Aust. is a ship in from 1500km plus... so postage is a bastard local honda dealer has nothing in stock as they focus on off-road mostly and the age of my bike doesnt help taking it slowly as i dont want to bugger-up to much, reading a lot the info on this site (many questions and answers i have, are there without having to re-ask them) to lead me as well as the downloaded service manual.
