Is this a dumb question?

Finally got around to attaching a 12v computer fan onto my '98 VFR800 regulator/rectifier.
My question is this: Should the Radio Shack label (on one side of the fan) be
out (where you can see it) or should it be on the inside (where you cannot see it)?
Radio Shack did not put any direction arrows on the unit....duh.
I turned it on and tried to feel the wind direction and it "seemed" to indicate that the label should be against the regulator (to push the air onto the regulator).
Should the final result be that it is pushing air onto the regulator, or should itbe pulling air from the regulator? Argggghhhh.
BTW, just for giggles, before I finished the fan attachment ceremony I thought
I would experiment and see if it is possible to do a quick fix out in the field, if the regulator/battery problem surfaced.
Solution (drum roll please)...take out the regulator and attach it to the passenger peg bracket with a long bolt and a very large washer and nut.
The harness is long enough to allow this temporary field fix.
It looks weird, but it will help to get you home by having the regulator out in the wind.
Good only if you don't have a passenger.
Since I still cannot figure out how to post pics I would be willing to send any through email on the fan question and the passenger peg fix.

I'm leaving for an 8 day motorcycle trip north into Oregon and Washington on Sunday, August 5th. :rapture:
Hoping the regulator boogey man doesn't raise his ugly head!

I did this mod too when I put on the newer Honda RR. I hooked it up to the tail light wires then just felt which way the fan was blowing then mounted it so it would blow on the RR. I figured that more air flow over the fins would be best, especially when in stop and go traffic. The heat sink plate and the frame do the job of pulling heat away.
