Bridgestone emailed me today saying that, after OVER 8 weeks of waiting now, my rebate has been approved and it will be here in only....you guessed it....eight more weeks!!!

What a bunch of sleazy advertising to NOT say the rebate of 50 whole bucks ONLY takes FOUR MONTHS to get. And, I don't have it yet. Seeing will be believing. Apparently, Japan is having a cash flow crisis. Apparently, I don't respect Bridgestone for their advertising ethics. I bet they make their vendors pay on time. Bastards.

    Sorry to say...

If you would've bought Metzelers, or Michelins, you would've had the rebate in your pocket right now! Cause their rebate is in the form of superior tires! Just kidding!
I believe the Corporate world is full of half truths, outright lies, and a lot of fine print. Problem is, we do not stick together, as Consumers, and we believe that we are powerless. Or I believe that I have got it better than most, so I shouldn't complain.
I always thought a boycott would be a good solution, to Corporate Greed. For example, the price of gasoline. To send a message, everyone needs to band together and pick a gas Company to boycott. Say, for example, Esso/Exxon. Nobody goes to their outlets, or uses their product, until they lower their prices. If they don't, I'm afraid they are headed for financial ruin. With the Internet, this is now a possibility.

All of my Bridgestone rebates have arrived in the allotted time of 4-6 weeks with one week on top of that to process and approve my rebate submission. This is a normal, expected wait time for a rebate.

Your situation is odd and it's no wonder you're disappointed. I'd chock it up to an anomaly before you go removing your Bridgestone tattoo in a huff. ;)

Oh, I like the tires and no tattoos of any kind on this body, just think a minimum of 4 months to get a rebate is a bit misleading from any reasonable expectation. I'll take it but it's poor customer relations at the very least. Actually, it's not the biggest concern in my life.

I despise a rebate! They will look for any excuse to deny it too!

The companies processing rebate are all intermediaries. They don't care about you or the vendor they serve. I agree with the spirit of what gt750 is saying. The rebate is a promise, but a half-hearted one that vendors seem to hope you'll forget about a few months after submitting it.

The federal rules that financial institutions must comply with have become a massive burden. On their behalf, it would not surprise me if there is a verification steps, verifying who you are before they cut you a check. Congress has determined that they must track the flow of every dime in this economy, in order to catch the black market, money laundering, etc. Just saying this may explain why in an age of computers, the rebate has gotten slower not faster.

I think they use rebates because they get our attention better than a drop in price. Also, it would be painful for all product distributors to change the pricing in their systems, up and down. The rebate serves a purpose, but I have always hated it. Give me the rebate at the counter during purchase. Why is this so difficult?

I agree 100%, Knight. The real issue is, they offered me a rebate that reminds me of "bait and switch". I WILL get my rebate if I don't die of old age first. I say I will because once I "lock on" to a company, it's less expensive for them to just give me what I want than to deal with me. Works everytime.

That said, I would have still bought the tires because even without the rebate, they were very well priced and they are sticking and wearing very good. Just a minor bitch on my part but, hey, they just need to DO IT!!
