Hello, I recently bought a '96 VFR 750. I never rode this type of bike before, hence my question. When I shift up (gears) I disengage the clutch, lift the shifter up and hear a "Klak" sound (which is ok) but when I release the clutch after the upshift I hear another "Klak" that sounds just like the first one. So each time I upshift, I hear 2 "Klaks", one from the actual upshift and one immediately after the first one when the clutch is released. This does not happen when I very very very slowly release the clutch. What could this be, could it possibly do harm and if so, what can I do about it? Thanks in advance!
I picked up a low milage(16k) 96 VFR in December. This bike is probably the smoothest shifting bike i have ridden in quite a few years. It sounds like your "klak" may be a loose drive chain. Give it a good lube and adjustment and see if the noise goes away...Dave
Thanks on the reply man! I'll check the chain this weekend. Meanwhile I noticed there was too much oil in the motor (stupid dealer >) so I syphoned out the excess oil and shifting has turned smoother since then. I haven't measured it yet, but the chain looks kinda loose too.
