Is there a 'best' coolant to use for 07 Gen6 VFR being ridden in super hot desert climate (Arizona)? I am wondering if there are certain restrictions or avoids given V4 metallurgy/ corrosion of radiator & cooling system etc. Yes, Honda coolant at 50/50 is the manufacturer recommended, yes?

I see some other threads (using the site's tools!) suggesting WaterWetter and distilled water at a 50/50 mix...

In the summer I run water and water wetter at the dose suggested on the bottle. Its not an antifreeze.

You can also use engine ice or any silicate free antifreeze so you don't have to remember to change your coolant before the first freeze.

I swear by Engine Ice. When I moved to NYC, I had serious heat problems on hot, humid days, bike overheating if I had to stop in traffic, barely holding temp down to 225 with the fan on and moving at 35+ MPH. Switched to Engine Ice and the heat dissipation rate went up enough that the fan was able to control the temp under basically any conditions. A lot of people and websites claim it has nothing special about it, so after NYC I switched to a major coolant brand's propylene glycol. It worked fine, but the bike runs hot again (I had moved back to the Pacific NW so it wasn't a huge issue). I'm about to flush and switch back to Engine Ice. I have every reason to expect the bike will ditch 10-15 degrees at all times again.

I haven't used glycol anti freeze in my play toys for years. I use water with water wetter and some rust inhibitor added for extra corrosion protection. WW has it already in it, so they say. My garage doesn't freeze in the winter even down to -15 outside, so I'm covered.

Do not use Water Wetter with glycol. Yes the bottle says you can but your temps may be higher cause the glycol retains the extra heat that's extracted. Just ask the Water Wetter techs about it.

I went with Engine Ice on both VFRs as well. So far no issues and seems like temps stay within reason even in the So Cal summer.

I'll have to try something. My 99 was running 233-237 because of the heat today. Good thing it's a Honda!

Maybe I should create a front radiator...

Honda coolant. I live where it commonly gets to 100 with 98% humidity and have never had any of three VFR's I've owned overheat with just Honda coolant in it. The fan works well when needed. In my case, the rider needs the fan too.
