^^^^^^^Very true. My main concern was if you have a chance to come to a stop, you have a chance to swerve out of the way. If you're moving you have some input over the situation, if you're stopped you've removed any opportunity for avoidance. You're totally at their mercy.

I'm thinking the similar idea as well. I watched the video and what's odd is that the rider is on the LEFT lane. It's not in the UK so was there a particular reason for riding on the left lane? It sucks though and totally the driver is at fault. It's not a perfect world and I have to wonder what would have been the outcome if the rider was on the right lane. Probably the driver would have kept going and avoided hitting the bike.

And the OP is stating he's had 3 wrecks, which makes me wonder about the circumstances. I'll admit I ride fast but I've never wrecked because I'm always hyper-aware of my surroundings and never assume the other driver will do the correct action.

Sweet shit that is poor luck. That being said, I say give it another go if you enjoy riding.

I've been driving for UPS for 32 years. You don't want to hear what I have to say.

But I will say this: Quit.

This is why I assume everyone I see at night is drunk. Yeah it's easy to say you could have done more to avoid this cause there is always something that could have been done, but you didnt even hit the horn... Anyway I hope you have a speedy recovery. What a bad bit of luck.

This. If you have the passion then you won't quit.

If I can get back in the saddle after a head on with a semi truck, then you can get back in the saddle over that.

I didn't even contemplate quitting. My first thought was "Shit! I need a new bike.". Then I contemplated my life afterwards but never did I think of quitting.

I second that. If it's in your hart to ride then lick your wounds while you look for another ride.

Jeez, that was disgusting. Good thing you were riding a motorcycle though, might be dead if you were a pedestrian. :witless:

Boy Oh Boy SMH.. Ouch, and what luck. sorry to see this, but what a video, shouldn't have any trouble pointing out who's at fault, I'd sure be pissed.
Thing is....Me Not being in your shoes has me at bay to over thinking this, just as a wonder? and hindsight being 20/20, wouldn't it been the wiser to been more to the right? Doh! looks like in the vid you where pretty much in middle lane, the vid shows you where over the line there at first, there's like a lot of room on the right from the start, just saying, might want to omit that turn in the video so that's not a question if the insurance dispute gets that far. just saying. Best of.

Your Instagram account is marked private, I've requested to follow you, but no one can see your video, consider hosting it on YouTube.

That said, without seeing the video, I'm grateful you're OK

I bet she was drunk and either texting or looking for Pokemon. Didn't even see you. But I would definitely been way over to the right and give fools a wide berth. The "I'm invisible and everyone is trying to hit me" game will keep you alive.

Sorry to hear about our incident, but I think you probably should not be posting the video on the internet until you have at least reached a settlement. As you have seen so far, many have said that they believe that you are partially at fault and these are motorcycle riders saying this. In the hands of a good attorney, this could undermine your case, even though she was allegedly intoxicated.

Anyway, I hope you heal up quickly. Good Luck.

There's 5+ of us that can see the video too, did you not see the comments? Probably you're viewing the instagram at work and they have web filters.

Ouch, I just say the video. I understand that it may be painful to hear this but stopping was probably the dumbest thing you could have done - you so needed to move to the right (or left who cares).

Playing with cars is as I'm sure you are aware painful.

You can't afford to have an off day, and every day there are more people out there trying to kill you just because they really don't care.

If you can't RIDE a motorcycle and you are only driving it then you have to realise that this isn't for you.

Only you can make that decision... I wish you luck and hope you heal well.

Damn, that's a shitty deal buddy. Hope you fix quickly.

Having been there (and trust me, I have!), only you really know whether it's right to climb back on. I could make the "when you get knocked down..." comment, like others have, and doubtless they do with with the best of intent, but like Jeff Barrett, when that sorta thing happened to me, I was pissed at needing a new bike - hell, I was pissed at not being able to ride home from hospital! If you have doubts, then you're in a different place than I was.

Give it some time, get better and then see how you feel. If the thought of rejoining the melee of bad and inattentive drivers fills you with dread, maybe it's time to hang 'em up.

Or you could buy yourself a scrambler and go find some dirt tracks to blast down instead - no idiots driving a tonne and a half of motorized metal to compete with then!

Sorry that happened to you :( wow that's scary...

I am surprised you didn't move into the right part of the lane? Was it a one way or something?

Get another one! You ever hear the tubthumper "i get knocked down" song? Get up again, they never gonna keep ya down!
