    Hi all,

Today I serviced my 1999 VFR 800. Flushed rad, changed oil, new oil filter, new air filter and new spark plugs. Whilst in the air box I had a little look around, disconnecting most the tubes with a view to lifting it out (in the end I didn't because the front of the box was just too awkward to detach). All seemed in great order. Having replaced everything exactly how I found it the bike started up well. However...... every time I start her up now there is a few second delay before the FI light comes on and stays on. There is also a slight change in engine tone as soon as the light comes on. The engine seems to rev higher when the light comes on. Very similar to using the choke. She is not happy now and is definitely under-powered and rough. I've checked all the links in relation to reading FI error codes but none of the 'symptoms' fit.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers

    Ian

My guess is that you have either left a hose detached (e.g. MAP sensor) or a cable connector is not quite clicked home. I did that with the MAP sensor myself. Have you used the service check connector to get the FI system to Morse-code it's distress?

Cadbury64, thanks for your advice. I'm off tomorrow so will be investigating some more. I'll go back to the airbox first and check for any loose hoses and the MAP sensor. I'm pretty sure they all went back correctly but you never know. I'll also be closely checking the vacuum hoses and there respective numbers. I haven't checked the morse code yet but will do in the morning.

    Thanks again. I'll update tomorrow.
