So picked it up this morning! Rode it to work (about 60Km), and what a nice machine. A little buzzy in the mid-high range, but no worse than my Ninja 650, and a lot more power! Vtec transition was smooth, there is a PCIII installed but no other intake/exhaust mods. Bike is in excellent shape, one tiny little scratch near the front nose that is unnoticeable. Seat is a little firmer than I thought it would be, but comfortable none the less (sergant seat). Tires are literally brand new, still have the mold nipples on them. Luggage was custom painted to match the bike and look great! Love the sound of the bike compared to the parallel twin motor, and cant wait to get a better slip on to liven it up even more, but easily one of the nicest looking stock exhausts I have ever seen.

First order of business will be to change oil as the bike hasn't been ridden since last fall. Battery was replaced in July, had a quick look at the electrical near the battery, and didn't see any signs of faults/overheating issues. Will change all the fluids this fall.

Find the stock bars maybe a little low for my liking, so may look at changing those out next spring. Will likely do the freebie intake mods this fall and see what the PC settings are.

Overall a VERY nice ride and look forward to putting some miles on this!

Loving the new ride, haven't racked up very many miles yet. Enough for some first impressions...

Maybe its my excited wrist, but this thing seems to be drinking gas like its free :( not showing any of the obvious signs its running rich, like black smoke or sooting exhaust. Maybe I just like that Vtec powerband too much :boozer: going to pull the PC and see what it's set at one of these days...

The new tires that are on it are very nice, really liking the grip, increasing confidence for sure!

Getting used to the body position with the stock bars, a very definate maybe on switching to higher bars, but I might give ita full season next year and see how I feel about them.

LOVE the hard bags.. so convenient, doing my first mini camp trip this weekend! Next up Top case for mama so she doesnt feel like she is going to fly off the back, and a tank bag so my pockets are not loaded to the tits... and a possibly a ram mount for a phone/gps, depending what tank bag I get.

The only fault so far is the suspension, which I already knew from reading about... it really is shite. Think the front fork upgrade is in the very near future, like over the winter kind of future.... Anyone know a Toronto shop that can tune like JD? May just order the kit from him, but I have never done any spring work, but I am very mechanical and keen, so I will likely just do it myself...

    and thanks for the welcome!

Any time you're over 6,800 RPM you'll be using gas in a hurry with those extra 2 valves per cylinder.

I get about 300km on a tank of premium if I'm driving like a normal human being. If my wrist get's tourettes then I'm down to about 260km.

Get Convertibars, they are way better than Helibars. I've owned both. I have Heli's right now, only because I bought them second hand and needed them on my replacement bike after the accident, and was on a budget. I'll be replacing them with Convertibars eventually.

You'll be packing pretty light, even with the top case if you're camping. LOLZ!! I have no room for a passenger when I'm outfitted for camping. I'm using a RAM mount in the steering head stem. It works very well.

I need to get in touch with Jamie Daugherty to upgrade my suspension. The preload is maxed on both the front and rear and there's no adjustment for rebound. You can send your stuff out to JD or order in the parts assembled from him.

    Enjoy the trip!

Got a buddy taking most of my stuff up for me in his truck, so dont have to worry too much about the weight! Wife is going to the cottage with our daughter, I will double back on Sunday to meet up with them.

I guess the gas situation is about on point... oh well, fun aint cheap!

Ah, that's good then that you have someone else carting most of your gear.

Here's a photo of mine loaded up for almost a week of travel. This is my typical load out for most distance trips ...

Fuel economy isn't that bad if you restrain your wrist ... lolzZZ!
