Fixed my headlights, the headlight bulbs were upside down. New Philips X-treme Vision +130% Headlight Bulbs. HELLA better than before. Such a difference!

    (Previous owner put them in.)

Now just in the H did you get your paws in there? not to mention se what you're doing. I went in there thinking no biggie, haha on me, yea right, so left well enough alone, even though I have a set of silver stars that would like to be there. Just there's no room, can't see , WTF Honda, the 4th gen was a snap and play.

Put on my inductive digital tach (tiny tach) in preparation for fuel screw setting per factory idle down method.

Cool thing about the Tiny Tach is that you only have one wire to wrap around the #1 plug.

Works great for seeing small rpm changes when tuning carbs, setting and checking for consistent idle. It also has a built in hour meter, as well as programmable service intervals and service due indicator.

Most digital tachs aren't that great for keeping track of rpm while riding, as they can be a little hard to read at speed and don't update fast enough and rpm swings often don't show up quick enough to see peak rpm before a shift, etc.

Also cleaned fork oil and dust seals , in attempt to slow slight seepage on the right and heavier seepage on the left.
Not sure how to explain the coat of grey looking oil on the left fork, not running down the forks or anything but definitely not well sealed. Not sure how much fluid I will loose over time and don't intend to find out as new seals are on the way.
Worse part is not only was the fluid filthy when I changed it but each fork had only 150ml (of ~350ml), pretty obvious the PO hadn't touched the forks since 2002 either.

It's amazing how much better a nice old bike looks if you jettison the rusty old "iron" pipes.

When I got the bike, it had a chain that matched that pipe. Glad that the old chain and pipe are off the bike.

I oiled up the old pipes and put them in the attic, just in case.

Yessir.... The best looking VFR in th whole wide room.

I love the GIVI Tanklock system, I have a couple bags and rings on both my VFRs. So easy to put on and take off, also bag never touches the track.

I just turned my bars away from the light I wanted to change and stood to the side of the bike and reached in, but I'm on a 5th gen, so it's probably easier.

That was one of the main reasons I went for a tanklock bag in the first place, its only a small bag but means that instead of putting things in pockets I can just put them in that bag.

I think this is great for you. But if you are still looking, I still love my "Wolfman" Timberwolve strap on Tank bag that I have had for 10 years. Never a scratch, UV holding up with the material. But, more importantly will hold my helmet if I am an idiot! And if not it will also hold a 12pk of beer If the lid is on my head.

Took my G5 out with the new Delkevic Header for the first time. It sounds, looks and runs fantastic. I out the O2 sensors back in the new header. I don't feel the need for a PC5. Best $307 I spent on a bike in maybe forever.

Sniper, what size and did you get? I think I saw a 8" or a 12 or 14". And carbon fiber or Stainless? I thought I saw someone having trouble with the carbon fiber coming off. I'm looking at the stainless but prefer the carbon. Appreciate any feed back.

Interesting little piece of kit. I'm not sure I like the non replaceable 5 year life battery, but not having to wire it up sounds great.

I found an old school Corbin seat from yahoo japan auctions of all places, so I went ahead and ordered it and whoa what a huge difference. The stock seat is but a memory now.

I went ahead and got a JDM kill switch while i was shipping stuff from Japan and am still debating what to use that extra switch for since i'm totally OK with my headlights being on full time, though i have been considering some LED but those would also be on full time most likely. I'm thinking grip heaters maybe? Hazards would be cool too though... I've got the cheapie style heaters that were on sale that I need to install with just high/low/off, and I could make this headlight switch do that no problemo since it has 3 positions.

This new seat is so comfy it has me doubting the need for the 96 VFR honestly. I'd need to source some nice luggage for touring but otherwise the 96 has nothing on the 86 except a huge naca duct, some extra power, drop pegs, and a touring screen. Rode the 86 down to a friend's house to take pics of a Viper he is trying to sell, was amazed the comfort a simple seat could make.

The 96 is still kickin though, haven't done anything to it since i synced the carbs awhile back. Just take it out and enjoy it here and there. I really need to take her on a long trip before I make up my mind though. Shame to buy fresh tires and not take em anywhere :p

Finally got mine out today first ride since carb work and wow. Probably about 90% of the way to as new rated power, but damn 1 -2-3 ...90 as quick as a wink. No way the little bimmer cage has a chance now. Except it doesn't redline till 140mph the vf700 126mph estimated.
Got to get another feeler gauge and readjust the valves properly.

Also got to work a bit with the counter steering method of control and wow just like a good woman I can suddenly put it wherever I want it whenever I feel like it. Good thing my inexperience didn't kill me or somseone else before I figured that one out.

Got back and set the fuel screws with the idle down method . Turned out they were all within a 1/4 turn or so anyway.

Good news is I brought her in at temp, and let it run for another 10-15 mins as I got it together and set the carbs.
With nothing more than a box fan and of course the bikes own fans to help keep it cool and the temp gauge stayed at about 1/2 way as the radiator fans cycled on/off in 95° weather.
Hope this trend continues when I come into town traffic and redlights after wringing her out and getting her heat soaked.

Awesome day for me soo happy I was able to pick up on how to really steer a street bike.

I rode mine down around the East Hastings area of Vancouver. She wanted to see the other bitches I ride like a wet hoar. They must have been with other clients.

I am amazed by a lot of things with my 2014 and I bitch about some little things that I would like to change. But those LED headlights are killer. I wonder how they compare to your add ons.

I still need to put on my tail tiddy, look into a new Slip on, Add a power commander, adjust the rear suspension, buy the hard bags, get heated grips, find some 2014 deluxe forks, buy tools to do everything I can by myself, find a wife (awe screw the wife thing), get a new job or a second one to pay for all of it or win the lotto!:)

But, I think that I will stick with the tail tidy and just try to get as much riding as I can with NFL football and snow hitting soon in Utah. 2600 miles in 3 months I don't think is a bad start riding solo and without vacation time to really get a long ride in.
