I have not heard of a lot of CBR's doing that. I track with a bunch of guys on CBR forums and the 1000's were near bullet proof. Especially 06 and 07's. There were oil burning on some 08-09's with rings but they did not blow up, just burnt oil. Please enlighten me.

His opinions are based on "real-world experiences" and people he knows, so consider yourself enlightened. In fact, I myself am so enlightened that I'm gonna head down to my local Ducati dealer and see if I can do a quick trade - I need something ultra-reliable to outrun Hurricane Matthew. :congratulatory:

Not sure what crawled up your ass, I guess things just aren't as bright for you since the death of your god Soichiro. I'd suggest you lighten up and put the kool aid down before you have a heart attack over an internet post. I could give a damn how many times Consumer Digest tells me how great something is, I have just as many problems with Hondas as I do with my American cars, and I've owned a lot of both. I'm just imagining transmission issues in two of my Hondas right now, one of them with less than 60k miles.

Gator, you're right, it was the oil burning I was thinking of. It seemed worse in my memory because Honda was calling it normal. More than one person had to give up and get something else. I know of at least one personally and others on the internet, but since Consumer Reports didn't say it, it's hearsay.

Why people are getting all worked up about two companies who could not care any less about whose side your on, is beyond me. I like both companies but know that both companies may not be for everyone.

Bottom line folks, some people will love the new Duc, without ever having any experience with Ducati. Some will hate it, again without having any experience with Ducati. As far as what a bike sounds like, unless you put an aftermarket can on a VFR, it kind of doesn't sound like much either. Then again you have HD cool-aid drinkers who think their bikes are the end all, beat all of what a motorcycle should sound like. Didn't Harley even try to patent the sound?

    Peace Out Bros!

You're asking ME to lighten up? After your tirade I just quoted above? Thanks for the good laugh - that's almost as funny as your having just confused oil burning with catastrophic engine failure in your rather bizarre desire to put down Honda - lol.

My suggestion to you is to grow a sense of humor - life's too short to get all worked up over one little link I posted to a Consumer Reports article. No offense, but you're starting to sound a little crazy. So if you don't like Consumer Reports, maybe you'll believe this crazy guy when he says the Honda VFR is the best :witless: Now if you'll please excuse me, I need to go pack up my beloved statue of Mr. Honda into the back of my Honda CR-V and prepare to evacuate - lol.

Didn't Harley even try to patent the sound?

The suit was over what HD tried to prove was a copyrighted sound. HD has sued almost everyone for one thing or another. They just got sued and are having to cough up 15 million pesos for emission violations.

A few of the suits by the suits from HD by "the lawyers who ride"

    did harley davidson sue yamaha
    harley davidson lawsuit against honda
    harley davidson lawsuit against kawasaki
    harley davidson lawsuit sound
    harley davidson vs honda lawsuit
    harley davidson lawsuit indian
    harley davidson lawsuit patent
    harley davidson lawsuit 1920s

When getting down to what a bike of any kind sounds like, on the basis of the number of cylinders is very close to the bottom of the barrel. (Except for SOW )

What tirade? You and your little gator buddy were the ones getting all worked up because I made the point that Honda isn't the only manufacturer that makes quality products. You seem to have taken it personally that I could have such a thought and didn't take Consumer Reports as the final word on motorcycle quality. So much for discussion.

So how many pesos does it cost intervals aside to do the valves on a VTech and a Desmo Duc? Parts and labor if somebody has the actual figures. If not, just the labor.

This sans all the BS some service manager decides the bike has to have to keep one's family from contacting the bubonic plague, or worse.

I take it you've never been to Florida and been around what passes for a bike scene down there. Let it slide, drag racing and taking freeway on and off ramps (Florida Twisties) is all they've got.

You're right. We're all extremely jealous down here of all the gay pride biker parades you have up in NorCal - I think the locals just call it rush hour? :congratulatory: Not to mention your illegal alien slalom courses - aka freeways.

The Honda fanatics said the same sorts of things about the 990 Super Duke, when it came out. They missed out on a really good motorcycle.

I'm going to read everything I can about this new Ducati. Then I'm going to Louisville, and have a look for myself. Then I'll decide.

    It certainly looks promising.
