Hello to all out in the VFR World... just bought a VFR this summer... I believe the "F" model 700 full fairing... red, white an blue. Guy at work dropped it in his garage and broke a bunch of plastic parts and decided he needed to get rid of it. I decided to take on the project of replacing or fixing it up and finally got it running. Motor seems to run fine, but the suspension leaves a lot to be desired. I can't seem to relax my grip on the bars without getting the start of tank slap. Scary to say the least. Is this normal. I notice that some of you have upgraded you suspension to more modern components. I'm very interested in doing that as well. How complex is it to do? I do like the single sided swingarms of the later VFR's and wonder if this is a doable conversion.
    Thanks all

Welcome aboard. Don't have any experience with your bike, but what you describe shouldn't be normal on any bike. I would check out the front tyre (my Suzuki used to do that when the tyre got worn) wheel and headset.

Bought a ZZR600 for taking the gf out on when I still had my ZX10R, exact same thing and as said above, exact same remedy. Front tyre.
