Has anyone fitted a Givi PL257 side bag rack?

I have the FZ257 Mono Rack installed already and E22n side bags coming soon, so if anyone has fitted the side racks and can shed any light on spacer/bolt arrangement at the footrest end that would be a help.

    Cheers all :eagerness:

    Hey Mark

Here's a link to the GIVI site with the installation instructions.

    http://www.giviusa.com/my-motorcycle/honda/vfr800-99-01/pl257-sidecase-hardware-detail

I recently installed a Givi Wingrack on my 2000 VFR800, and the instructions said that the bars that attach to the passenger footrest brackets were supposed to install on the bottom of the bracket. I had a hell of a time getting them to fit underneath, but they fit to the top of the bracket fine. My discovery was that if I loosened all the connections and fit the bolt through the rack underneath the footrest bracket first, and then tightened all the attachment nuts and bolts, everything lined up perfectly. Since the side racks are different as far as shape and attachment goes, I'm not sure if you can fit everything loosely or not. Hope this helps somewhat.

As the instructions above show, there is a nut with a long shoulder that fits between the peg mount and the rack. Another nyloc nut and washer threads in below the rack. The bolt is long enough to capture both.

The original pin and cotter that hold the peg are not used in the install of the rack.

Gotcha! When you have it in your hand it makes sense!
Install went fine except that the M6x66? screw that that acts as the footrest pivot is not long enough to protrude through the nyloc nut.
Other than that, all good, including removing the bobbins that the cases rest on to coat in anti seize as with all the other fasteners supplied with the kit.

    Thanks for replies and comments

Hey, thanks for the reply Hellfish. Nice rig you have there and clean too.
I replaced the M6x55 screw that mounts the pillion footrest with a stainless M6x60 so that the nylon nut is effective.
In fact I replaced all the bolts and screws with stainless including the the lug that the cases lock onto.

HellFishTat--What pipe are you running? I have a Micron but it just barely exceeds the allotted space. I am trying to avoid neutering it with the stock can.

Can you add a couple stand offs between the side case rack and the monorack? I think that's what others have done. I have a GPR high mount on the way and am anticipating having to do this.
