Well today I did the unthinkable ...........I traded the 6th gen in on another bike and it isn't a Honda

It is a Triumph Tiger Sport 2017 model in alloy silver colour

    IMG_20170116_153358.jpg

I just wasn't finding the VFR adequate for the sort of riding I am currently wanting to do and Honda NZ parts prices and lack of service were truly PISSING me off

At least it still has a single sided swing arm and an exposed wheel and it seems better suited to New Zealand's goat tracks they call roads around my way

I pick it up this Friday in the morning

on a good note I only lost $500 on the Vfr over what I paid for it

Nothing like a NEW bike.... Hope it performs like you hope it does.

That has the biggest exhaust can I've ever seen. Has to weigh a ton!

let us know how you enjoy your purchase. I want to do an Alaska trip in acouple of years and I think the Tiger will be more suited for some of the roads or should I say gravel roads

    Nice bike!!
I love my VFR, but was never let down by any of my Triumphs. Looks like you made a great choice.

Your transgression is understandable and can be resolved through prayer and fasting. A sin would be if you swapped your VFR for a Harley. Ain't no coming back from that shit!

Congrats at least its a good looking moto.... I hate to say my next bike will probably be a different manufacture too, there is no fizz in the Honda designs as of late so I'm thinking Ninja 1000 at the moment ++sports +touring with good style and grunt, but I have at least a year or two of VFR left in me. Safe travels on your new beauty.

    Congratulations!!

I'm interested to hear what you think...

I'm in the market to get ahold of an adv...hopefully in the next year. I was JUST talking to a friend in SW about the topic last night. What did he mention for me to compare to the GS?....a Tiger.

Looked into them and it was enough to pique my interest.

I won't be a sinner like you tho, as I'd keep my Viffer.

100 Hail Marys and shipping it to Kansas so I can see how it performs in Alaska should save you from the everlasting fires of Hell.

My O My, look at you, good for you sticking to your guns. As great as Honda might be, there's places where they have short comings, so understand where you are coming from. if it weren't so expensive of a move, I'd have another bike the VFR should be, could be. But for now for the $$$ what I have will have to do ;) Enjoy, nothing like the smell of a new bike. But something tells me you'll be back.

Curious, maybe it's a Honda thing you don't want any part of, Did you take a look at the Cross runner?

congrats on the bike! that's a great bike. If I didn't have stubby little legs and T-rex arms, that would have been a real temptation. But I still added a triumph to my line last year, but kept one of my VFRs. Only had to say 3 hail Soichiros and 3 our Hondas as penance.

Chomper got one of those after he and bambie had a disagreement a few years ago while riding his VFR in north east Oregon. He is happy with it. But he keeps saying he does miss the VFR.

Thanks for the well wishes guys n gals

I did ride the cross runner Honda both in 800 and 1200 Guises but they both lacked something not sure what but they didn't give me a Woody

I even rode an 8th gen Vfr but no love was forthcoming

I have had the Tiger sport for just over 3.5 days and have only covered 400 km's due to being on night shift

BUT the motor even keeping it under 6k rpm is an absolute peach , Can you say Torque.............. absolutely awesome grunt

I cant wait until it is fully run in and I can source an aftermarket pipe to unleash a bit of music

The riding position is actually very comfortable and being so upright visibility is very good

The mirrors are brilliant with a good clear view rearwards with no vibration at all

I will miss my Vfr But my aging bones and joints are really loving this bike so far I feel I could ride all day and still be able to walk once I dismounted

The new Tiger has cruise control ,abs, switchable units of mileage and all other measurements , 3 ECU riding modes ..rain...road and sport and traction control which can be switched off

It is ride by wire with a can-bus electrical system and has a Hella socket which is full time live on the left frame by the riders Knee and a USB socket under the seat which is ignition key switched

More time in the seat will reveal more But so far I really like the package

Hope you guys don't mind me hanging around a bit as this truly is a great forum with good knowledgeable people

I got a great trade in for the Vfr of $7000 NZ $$

I only paid $7495 for it 5 months ago and have travelled 9300 km's on it since I got it with only an oil change and a $300 chain and sprocket kit needed

The Triumph Retails here for $20,995 NZ $$

    Cheers
    James

James, please don't go anywhere! So glad you love the moto so far! Nice resale there too....WOW!!

I've been suggested to look at the Tiger from even more people now. Glad to hear you enjoy the package. Will be neat to read some updates down the road on what you think.
