hello I am andrea, from 'Italy. I'm about to buy my first VFR and I wanted to show a photo to get some advice. The bike has 56,000 kilometers (about 32,000 miles). I pay $ 650.

Ciao.

[Ciao, Andrea, 56,000km is not many miles (km) on a VFR. Overall from the photos the bike looks well cared for. These bikes are known to last beyond 150,000km. You don't say what model year it is but at a price of $650 it seems a good buy. Pardon my Italian as it may be a bit formal. Welcome to this site. Good luck and enjoy the bike. I am Tom. Ciao.]

Nice VFR there, and a 89, didn't know they made it then. Thanks for sharing and welcome to the wacky world of VFR ownership.

American Honda never imported the VFR in '88-'89, but the rest of the world got them. They made some changes, 17" wheels and an adjustable screen being the most notable.

    Ciao,

Thanks very much for the replies.

At the moment I move with a FZR 1000 1990. The VFR consumption will be higher than FZR 1000?

No, I say fuel consumption will be better. I have a 1987 Honda VFR700F2 and I get about 6l/100km. Yours should be close, maybe 6.5l/100 km. How much does 87 octane fuel cost in Italy. In Canada it is 0.90/ litre, in CDN $. Very expensive right now.
You will be getting a good deal, for $650.00. As long as it runs and rides good. Make sure it is safe, as it is an older bike.

    Ciao,
88 in poi è monobraccio.
    Ciao
    Carmine

Ciao and welcome to the MadHouse from the other side of Mont Blanc.:welcome:

If the bike is running well then that bike is a real bargain for just €650 ($700). If they have been properly maintained those bikes can easily cover a lot more km. The biggest issue was the original RR(Regulator Rectifier) which can fail with little warning and after killing the battery has left many 750F stranded. It is definitely worth fitting a voltmeter. It may not stop the RR failing - but it should warn you if the charging system is failing, allowing you to ride the bike to a safe place before the energy left in the battery is completely drained - rather than be stranded roadside.

Some early European 750F bikes had a camshaft oiling problem/recall. I think that was solved by 1989/90? models.

I would like to attend (without victory pretensions of course) to a competitive economy run over 740cc. According to your experience as a consumer I could get?
