Hello, I wish to join you guys with your VFR. I love how it's sporty but with a touring ergo. I am ditching my CBR250r that I have had for 4 amazing year with no problems for a VFR. I have been looking consistently for a while for fair deals and with more VFR's in the market in my area. So I am located in Tampa, Florida and I have found 2 that have caught my eyes. 1. My first choice is a red 2002 VFR with 17k miles. Listed at $3900. 2. Second choice is a silver 2003 VFR with unknown miles. On KBB for an excellent condition bike from "a dealership" should $3080. That almost $900 above KBB! NADA Guides listed it as $2640 for average retail. What do you guys think? I'm going to meet them both in about one or two weeks to put down an offer. Craigslist is full of high priced items and low ballers haha. I don't mind paying FAIR VALUE.

I can't offer you any advice on the price as they really differ between down there and up here. But everyone has a ketchup coloured one so I vote for the silver.

Expand your search back to 98. Similar bike except you get gear driven cams instead of vtec. Not a bad deal!:potstir:

Im just worried that parts for the 5th gen are going to get super hard to find. Ill be keeping the bike probably for years to come just like my 250.

There is actually another 2001 that is $3000 also. So i might as well get the 2003 if it looks good. Its not like i dont have the money, i just want the best bang for my buck. My 250 only depreciated about 500 bucks after 4 years after getting it for 3k haha.

$3K for an 01 if its in good condition say mid 30,000 miles or so is a deal. like Randy threw out ,the price varies a lot. Don't discount the 5th gens they are getting to be the one to have. ;)

For reference, I paid $4800 for my '06 abs. Pristine with 15,000 mi. Pegs lowered, HID's and bars raised. reg/rec upgrade.

You aren't talking much money in the first place for a bike that does a lot. Get the bike you like then start negotiating. The value on this kind of bike is what you think it is.

I envy you guys, I paid around $6000 for my -06 ABS version, it has a Leovince SKS exhaust on the side (I think...) but probably not all the bolts and nuts to fit it and definitely not the db-killers. It also has a full hard luggage set but I paid around $100 to buy all the missing parts to fit it...

I like the bike though :) and fiddled a bit with it this Christmas

Touring gear is more difficult to find for 5th generation ... if you plan on doing a lot of touring, go 6th generation since luggage is way easier to find.

And .... I love my VTEC.

^ LOL, you know it's all about the Gear whining. I've seen a lot of bits for making the 5th gen a long hauler. is what it is. Find what strikes your fancy and go from there. any VFR will do you well.

True dat ... the gear whine would drive me nuts on a long trip though. I had originally sought a 5th gen but ended up going 6th gen because of the whine.

I paid $3800 for an "06 with 30,000 well maintained miles. Came with Givi Hard Bags two seats and knick knacks. Had the bike a over a year, Changed the Rectifier and Stator and put new tires on her... She has been a jewel to ride money well spent... Try to stay @ or under 4 grand.

Funny thing. My wife's bitching and complaining has similarly been reduced.

Just an east coast reference, I just picked up my first 04' VFR800 with 16K two owners, micron exhaust, sargent seat, cowl, risers, throttle tamer and PC3 for $3500 in NY. Guy needed money and also posted it had 116k on it:topsy_turvy: I agree. anything around or under $4k would be a good price range as Ive hunted for these for a while before encountering this deal. Matte Charcoal grey too!
