So I thought I would throw this out to the brain trust here. I am replacing the clutch on my 95. I am using a kit that I got from EBC. When I removed the old steel and friction discs I discovered that the clutch center where the springs ride had grooves from the springs. The grooves are simply wear grooves and the ridges aren't sharp. I am replacing the clutch due to it slipping in higher gears and higher revs. I don't think the groves in the clutch center would cause the slipping. So my question is this, do I replace the clutch center or leave it? image2 (1280x960).jpg

You can clean it up a little -- get in there with a very fine file or high grit wt or dry sandpaper on a stick and smooth out any ridges a little.

But, mostly, that's normal wear. It looks worse than mine was, but I had the same marks. You couldn't feel any sharp edges on mine and with the new plates in the clutch is a joy.

If it were mine, I'd expect the slippage was from the clutch plates. I'd just slap in plate and springs and be done with it.

Thanks for the input Moose. When you took your clutch apart on the steel plates was the sharp side out or in. I have read to put them in both ways but when I took mine apart the sharp side was out and the rounded shoulder was to the inside.
