I know that if someone intends to steal your bike they will. Does anyone see these locks as an added deterrent? I used a set on my 1995 Kawasaki GPz 1100, but they ended up costing me $800.00 In repairs due to being late one day and forgot about it. Nothing like throttling up and getting the surprise of that jolt after 14" of travel and the hitting the ground hard. Oh the good old days! Backl then they did not have a ignition plug to remind you. :playful:Thank god that no one had a smart phone that could post on youtube back then!:chaingun:

I use a Kryptonite. Yellow. Reminder cord.

I see it as one more thing a thief has to deal with.
And at least I'm trying to deter the scoundrels.

As you say, if they want it, they will get it...but I can at least try to give muh moto a chance at being passed up by thieves for a moto that's less secure.

Hell Yes! If I did not have them, my bike would not be here right now. Years ago when in apartment I had disc lock on front and then huge plastic sleeved bike chain on back wheel and wrapped around chain too(I had not fully tested the disc lock yet to see if I wanted another). Bike was covered, locked, facing forward in parking space and on center stand when went to bed. When I awoke the next morning, cover was all twisted in wheels and off both front and back. Bike was on sidestand and facing backwards in parking space and scrapes all over concrete where they tried to drag it a bit. The locks had stopped them from rolling it onto trailer. It fell over but only one small scratch on crankcase. Me and neighbors bike (yamaha cruiser) were parked in adjoining spaces. Only few weeks before, I had seen some guy pull up on sport bike and park between our bikes, make a cell phone call for about 30 seconds and then ride off. Thought that was strange so I had been keeping an extra eye on it as a precaution. Neighbors bike was untouched. Needless to say, I immediately purchased another disc lock for the rear.

I have a little flourescent orange plastic cord that came with locks that hooks to them and then you hook to handlebars or somewhere else as a reminder that you have locks on bike. Works great as reminder. The locks saved me that night but if they really want it, they will get it. My philosophy is make it as hard as possible and maybe they move on to something easier. They are wanting something they can grab and go and not something that takes time and risks exposure. I had locks on front and back too. If you were to only lock one of the wheels, they can still lift up on one wheel and roll it on trailer.

    Interesting...
Glad you reposted this, makes me rethink getting them.
My bike is always in a locked garage, or in my sight line when I'm out, but anymore you can't be too careful.
I just worry about forgetting about them before I ride off. Getting old sucks big time....
