I just picked up a 2002 Interceptor last weekend and am looking to purchase an OEM set of side cases, along with the rack, off of ebay. I've noticed that all the pictures I see of bikes with the hard side cases have the factory fender/plate holder and factory grab rails. My bike has a fender eliminator and blank-off plates for the grab rails. I didn't get these factory parts with the bike.

My question is, can I install the OEM side cases and rack without these parts or do i need to purchase grab rails and install the factory rear fender? I searched the forum but couldn't find this exact information. Thanks in advance!

I'd rather not put the stock whale tail on but I'm used to having storage space. The aluminum panniers on my KLR have spoiled me over the years.

The saddlebag stay (P/N 08L41-MCW-100) is needed to mount the saddlebags, and it includes the intermediate plate which is 2-piece, one portion of the plate bolts to the underside of the rear fender. and then the 2nd plate ties this plate to both saddlebag brackets/stays.

Good picture of the saddlebag mounting hardware here:

BTW, I have a BN luggage rack (never installed), which provides the mount for a Top Trunk, available for sale.

Hey, I recognize those pictures! Is the BN luggage rack you speak of used for mounting the side cases as well?

The luggage rack will connect to the top of the side case brackets, and will also serve as the grab rails for the passenger, but is not required for mounting the side cases.

It looks like this rear fender has the attachment with the "ears" (under the license plate bracket) for connecting the side case brackets, just like my setup pictured, so I would order it.
