How far can a bike run without a stator?

Pulled out from a 94vfr750 because need to replace but now at a new residence which is about 5 miles away. Haven't purchased yet, and bike starts without it, but would I make it to the new residence?

    Thanks for any advice.

Plenty of race bikes run without a stator, just using the battery as a total loss device. As long as the battery is decent, I can't imagine 5 miles is too far.

I read in the ST1100 forum about a guy on a tour in the middle of nowhere that lost his alternator, but carried on using the bike battery plus a back-up battery, charging overnight at motels.

As long as battery is in good nick, and you pull the headlight fuse you should be right

Ignition on Spark plugs are the only system drawing energy from the batt if you disable all lights as your bike is carburetted, and using this info http://www.laverdaforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=90636.0
You'll be able to run for a long time (as coils on the vfr are pretty small and all the system wont be using more than 2-3 amps @ 12v )

Don't forget fuel pump do need power....As mention above if you disconnect all the light and instrument with a fresh battery you can do couple hundred miles. Many lad ride around the world have done this !

    Thanks for the information.
    All light components are pulled.
Will let the forum know if I make it home uneventfully, and stages of trying to get a good bike that his been sitting for a year and more running again with out electrical gremlins.

Drove bike without stator and made it home with out dying. Have cleaned all electrical connections and have put all plastics back on and can ride locally, few miles without any issues.

Purchased Rick's stator from Dennis Kirk and Mosfet rectifier fr0m Roadster. Hope can install all as needed and electrical gremlins will be vanquished and the bike that I purchased over 5 years ago which was the "holy grail' of bikes when I finally came across it and purchased it runs again like I know it can.
