Yeah, those lifts are for the bikes that have a frame accessible underneath. IMO if you really want a lift, buy
the HF lift when it's on sale around $290, then add the HF tire chock for about $30, and you'll be golden. That's what I've
been using for years and it works very well. We use it frequently for my step-son's HD Street Glide and it
handles the weight with no problems.

With the HF chock you can roll the bike up into the chock and it will sit there. I use a couple tie downs just for security and
peace of mind, but it's sits pretty solidly without them.

I am so friggin' on-board wiht fj12!!!! That HF lift is absolutely what I would buy in your shoes. I still have a basic lift like the one you asked about, that could lift my old CB750F. It will absolutely will not work for my VFR.

I have a similar lift and used to lift my '06 vfr from the headers under a board. Worked fine. I did buy a single side Pit Bull stand for my gen8. I never really saw the need for a lift like those to bring the whole bike up to work on it. If I need the tires off the ground, this will not help me. If I need to polish or work on it, I use my Snap On dolley stool.

Because I have three bikes and very limited room in my garage for the HF type of lift, I was kicking around the idea of a Kendon folding lift, similar to the HF but it folds up allowing it to be stored vertically. After kicking it around and just missing out on a used Kendon lift, I ended up buying an ABBA Skylift with a universal kit instead. Although a bit pricey, compared to the HF lift, the ABBA allows more flexibility for me, particularly in the area of storage space. So far it has mostly been used to work on my 01 rebuild, it has been use an my 6 Gen as well as Scubalong's 6 Gen. Unlike the HF style of lift, the ABBA allows both wheels to be off the ground, allowing access to both the front end, for task like steering bearing changes and rear wheel/hub work too. So far I'm really happy with it and have no regrets, even though the cost was much more than the HF stand, for me the ROI was well worth it.
