    Hi
I am rebuilding/tidying up my 86 VFR750 and I could really use some help from you guys.
'All' I need are some pictures of the area around the handlebars/clocks/forks which I can use as a reference for correctly routing the mass of throttle/choke cables, wires, etc. round the forks, upper fairing sub frame and all the other bits and bobs.
Stupidly, I forgot to take some photographs before the tear down of the area in question. I have always been suspicious that the routing of this stuff on my bike was not correct any way, e.g. the throttle cables foul the right hand inner fairing cover (Honda part number 64590ml7000za) when the bars are turned to the left. I have the factory manual but in respect of this stuff it is a bit weak.
If any one would be kind enough to take some close up pictures from various angles of this area on their stock 86-87 VFR700 or 750 and post them on this thread it would be MUCH appreciated - a real project saver!
    Hope someone can help!
    Thanks in advance.
    Steve

Please note I will not have access to my PC for a bit so if I do not reply straight away it is NOT because I am ungratefully ignoring forum members.

The factory shop manual is what you need for proppa routing of cables, wires, hoses, illustrated in clear line drawings, easier than phots. so why can't you go on that ?

    Hi
    Thanks for your reply.
I have the factory manual but, concerning the area in question, the cable routing drawing for the top fairing mounting frame is a bit ambiguous - I can't tell whether the throttle cables go through this frame or around it - which is why I was hoping to look at a picture or two to make sure I have got it right.
    Regards
    Steve

throttle cables go in front of right fork, then under the fairing stay, then in back of left fork and into the frame.

Thanks very much. My throttle cables go through the fairing stay rather than under it. Might explain why the cables catch on the right hand inner fairing when the bars are turned to the left.

The more I tear down the bike the more weird and wonderful stuff I find. The main problem seems to be missing parts. The front calipers have various parts missing which defies logical explanation. I mean, why not refit things like caliper protectors and shims?

Poor bike. 31 years of 'life' and it has clearly had some abusive owners.
