Anybody out there have any experience with Ohlins shocks on a 1998-2001 VFR800? I need something better than stock on my '99 for my old man back! I'm looking to soften the harshness of the highway ride without sacrificing the sporting capability of an otherwise fine sport-touring platform. Thanks. V4LORD.

Just carrying it over from chat. Jamie Daughtery is the man! He reworked a CBR954 rear shock for my '98 viffer and it was a night and day difference. Highly recommended and going thru him will most likely save you money.

A big plus of having him go the route of reworking a CBR954 shock is that you can continue to ride your bike while he is working on it. I would guess that most US members who have upgraded their rear shock (and many front forks) have used him more than other options. Ohlin's are great, but they are hella expensive.

Impossible to agree with this more. Jamie knows this stuff so well my shock came almost perfectly adjusted. And it is better than the racetech'd cbr shock I had by leaps and bounds. He also machines the shock and mills an aluminum mount that I trust far more than any hinky extension setup I would have made myself.
