    Hey guys,
Sorry to be a pest but l am a new member to this site. I am an owner of a 2006 model VTEC and l am experiencing fuel issues. I have been reading a lot of threads on VFR sites all saying the same thing about the rough idling, VTEC issues and especially the O2 sensors. what l need help with is, l don’t know if this is the same thing that all the other threads are talking about or this is a new problem that l am experiencing.
When l picked the bike up I was fortunate to take a long ride of approximately
800 KM and l got 412km to a tank of petrol. This will equate to 19 – 20km per litre. The petrol l was using was a BP 98 octane fuel, one of the best on the market here in Australia. The bike was taken to a Honda dealership for the 1st 1000km service and now my fuel consumption is ranging from 11km per litre to the best l can get out of the bike of 15km per litre. since this discovery l have ridden 4500km and still getting the same fuel consumption.
one thing l also have tried is to block the pair valve on the bike to stop the extra flow of air to the exhaust for the O2 sensor not to read the extra amount of air from this valve, but the consumption was worse off. so it was un blocked.
To the logical people like me…. l know that this does not make any sense. Try explain this to Honda!!!!
I have repeatedly taken the bike to Honda to which l have only negative responses like “ oh… the bike is still new and still running in”, to “leave the bike alone that is the way it is” and “ the ECU has not picked up any faults so leave it be”
Sorry guys… but l do not by these sort of responses. These responses have not only come from the 2 different dearlership but from Honda Australia also.
I have had the same model VFR not 8mths earlier ( had an accident and rode the old one off) to receive and average 19km per litre. l commute on this bike to work and for leisure and can average 350km per tank. This new bike, exactly the same model, l am having trouble get
    300km per tank.
Guys… l know that something is wrong and hoping that some one out there can help me out on what to do or any suggestions to fix this issue.
    Thanks for reading.

    Desperately seeking fuel economy……

    Koochy,

Bud Well I Really Dont Know To Much About Other Vfr800 In Australia, I Mean I Work At A Honda Dealership In The U.s. And I Seen This Problem Before. The Diagnostics Testing Said It Was A Bad Airfilter, But I Choosed My Instincts Over Computer So I Changed The Filter And Plugs Also Ran A Inline Filter. Unfortunally Because Of The Vtec The Inline Did More Damage In Fuel Ratio. So I Took The Inline Fuel Filter Out And Rode The Bike For About 10 Minutes And A Week Late The Customer Came Back And Said He Was Averaging 26 City And 34 Highway Wich Is Normal. And Again I Dont Know What Difference There Is In The Vtech From Australia And The Us.

Advice, Change The Airfilter To A K
&n Filter Or Bmc. Change The Spark Plugs And See If That Helps If Not? Well Change Bikes My Friend!!

    Crazy K
